Sony Ericsson have produced some excellent handset over the years, from the hugely popular Cybershot series of models to the new and impressive looking Xperia range. A new model has been introduced into this latter line up in the shape of the X10 and looking at this model the phone certainly has a lot going for including a great quality display and a camera facility that puts many of its rivals to shame. Having looked over the model, it would be wrong to write about this phone without paying particular attention to the great display that is on offer. Thanks to the implementation of capacitive touchscreen technology, the Sony Ericsson X10 responds beautifully to the slightest touch which makes potentially complex tasks such as navigating websites or editing text a simple affair. What is shown on the actual display also has a huge bearing on just how good it looks which is why Sony Ericssons Timescape and Mediascape interfaces go hand in hand with this screen. Rather than offering us the familiar Android skin, these systems add a little elegance and style to proceedings. Timescape groups all incoming information together in a visually stunning carousel. This carousel is made up of numerous tabs, each tab corresponding to an update which could be anything from an SMS message to a Facebook status. In doing this it saves the user the need to access different applications in order to retrieve information whilst making everything look ultra sleek at the same time. Mediascape does a similar job but with your media features by grouping video, photographs and music all together.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 propels itself amongst the real big hitters in the smartphone world. The screen looks great and this is helped by the excellent user interface. Thanks to this along with the numerous other great features on offer this model may well steal customers away from the likes of HTC and Apple.
