
The Sony Ericsson W580i Grey is a slider camera phone. It has a 2-inch, 262,000 colour TFT display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The handset comes with EDR-enabled Bluetooth 2.0 and supports A2DP. When the W580i is flicked open, its LEDs generate several interesting combinations of light effects.
Its display can accommodate upto 8 text and 3 service lines. The user can cram more lines into the display by decreasing the font size. Its display has a mirror layer that improves it readability while the user is in the sun. The mirror layer also helps in keeping its pictures crisp and visible in the sun. The device supports a number of profiles like Generic Object Exchange, Dial-Up Networking, Synchronization and Handsfree. The handset measures 99 x 47 x 14 mm and weighs 94 gms.
The W580i's phonebook can store upto 1000 contacts. The slider phone has a 2 megapixel camera with CMOS matrix. Its camera can take pictures in two modes - Normal and Fine. Its screen serves as a viewfinder while the device is in shooting mode. It records videos in 3GP file format. The camera phone has 12 MB of built-in memory that can be expanded further by using a 2GB swappable microSD memory card. The device makes use of a standard 900 mAh Li-Pol battery that has a standby time of upto 350 hours and a talktime upto 9 hours.
The Sony Ericsson W580i supports two modes - Walking and Running. While running or walking, its display shows information related to the distance covered, time elapsed and current speed. The user can also check for the calories burnt or simply reset all the acquired data and begin a new cycle. These settings may appeal an ordinary man although sportsmen may not find something very interesting in it. The W580i automatically awards you various medals for some achievements.
The Sony Ericsson W580i camera phone comes in a choice of two colours - the Style White and the Urban Grey. The slider phone zips open and closes smoothly with its spring mechanism. Pressing its "#" key brings out a list of available languages. You can easily switch between them while typing.
