The word compact has been given a whole new meaning with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini. It measures at just 83 x 50 x 16mm and weighs in at a featherweight 88grams, this makes the X10 Mini one of the smallest mass produced mobile phones of all time! The device features a digital camera, built in accelerometer and FM radio and comes in a ranged palette of colours including red and lime green. There is full web connectivity and social network applications, the X10 Mini has even won the Red Dot award for design brilliance!

The Xperia X10 Mini runs on the Android UX interface which has been altered a little for use on the 2.55 inch QVGA screen which I might add renders over 16.7million colours beautifully, the UX interface thankfully brings with it the TimeScape feature. TimeScape gathers all of your messages missed call, tweets and status updates for Facebook in one convenient location for a full overview of your various communications, it also allows you to manage your social network accounts; updating your status and making tweets. To extend the devices communication capabilities it has full e-mail integration, allowing for account synchronization, this gives you the ability to check your inbox and reply to messages wherever you are, convenient!

With the Android operating system in place a variety of Google applications are available, apps including Google Talk, Google Maps, YouTube and G-mail. The platform also brings with it the Android Market which offers a range of applications you can download and install on to your own X10 Mini, and Google search which can be useful when tracking down music and video information.

The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini comes well equipped with wireless connectivity; Wi Fi and Turbo 3G connections are in-built for speedy connectivity and combined with the intuitive WebKit browser offer a very responsive browsing experience, Bluetooth connectivity is in place for data transfer between compatible devices and wireless headset use also, navigation services have been pre-installed; WisePilot and Google Maps have proved to be useful in this field along with in-built aGPS.

The phones digital camera has a 5 mega pixel lens and comes complete with photo flash and auto focus; there is also a Geo-Tagging feature for picture location. The camera can handle video capture quite well at 30 fps in 640 x 480 pixel resolutions and the playback looks fantastic on the TFT 16.7million colour display too! The Music player manages your tunes pretty well; its interface deals with commands very well.

To conclude this review, with the Xperia X10 Mini, Sony Ericsson squeezes as much Smartphone Technology in to its tiny frame as possible without hindering the phones performance; they have achieved this with ease. The X10 Mini has both social networking and e-mail integration, a decent digital camera and a good web browser, Sony Ericsson have a hit the nail on the head with this model and with the Xperia X10 Mini Pro by its side they could have the edge against there immediate competition; phones like the HTC HD Mini and the Motorola Milestone.
