You'll be surprised at what a demand there is for used cell phones just as there is for used computers, or anything else that has second hand value. There's a saying that goes 'one man's rubbish is another man's gold!' I'm not saying that used cell phones are rubbish of course! On the contrary, most are as good as the day they were purchased.
But cellular mobile phones in particular soon become unwanted simply because the gap between the latest model and the last one is very short as the technology and designs seem to change with the wind. Additionally, these communication gadgets are also considered fashion accessories to many young people which is why they keep purchasing the latest models to hit the market.
So just who wants to purchase a used cell phone?
Well, let's start with the less fortunate. We all know the benefits of owning a cell phone. From social chatting to making appointments, personal safety, and being available for others to contact you wherever you are, and not to mention having 911 or 999 (British) at your fingertips at any given time. Every society has those that need a leg up in order to get on in life, and by donating used cell phones to appropriate charities will benefit many who feel they are getting left behind in a world where contact is so important. People who are less reachable in the 21st century, quite often get left behind in the fast pace of modern living.
Then there are the older Mum's Dads, and grandparents who couldn't care less about cell phone technology, but the kids and grandchildren want them to be more contactable at any given time. But it's pointless spending big bucks on the latest all singing all dancing mobiles when you know the folks won't use any of the gadgetry. In these cases a refurbished or good working second hand model will do them just fine.
Charitable Recycling: Folks give their old cell phones to Charitable Recycling who then disposes of the mobile component safely. The money raised will go to a charity of your choice. A very worthy project!
Cell phones and their batteries contain a lot of perilous materials which can harm the environment if not disposed of properly. Therefore, it's very important to know how and where to recycle e-waste in an environmentally friendly way and the charitable options is the way to go here.
And finally, let's not forget the collectors. The world is full of folks who just love to collect and there's probably nothing that's not considered collectable by someone somewhere. Used cellular phones are no different and it'll only be a matter of time when we read about some rare model from the 1980's fetching an absolute fortune at auction.
So you see, there's definitely an after-market for used cell phones.
