All izz not well with Indian education system

It is preposterous to see the long queues outside schools. These fine men and women are here for their kids admission into pre-primary sections. This school will demand lakhs of donation, and these parents will readily pay it! Some schools even demand minimum qualification of parents for admitting their wards. On what basis are they authorized to do so? If parent's qualification affects a child's education, then what are these schools here for? And bade bhaiyyas never stops them. Hope our dear HRD minister has this issue as an action item in his tasklist.
The donations these schools demand are sometimes more than what I pay as an engineering student in one of the finest institutes. Being in Bangalore for quite a while now, I know families paying ridiculous amount for their kid's education. It is a shame on these schools, but the parents are equally responsible. During my times, if a classmate of mine failed, it was taken sparingly by his parents. They used to accept it and train my friend better. These days, in similar situations, the kid is taken to a psychotherapist- is failing even closely related to mental imbalance? Leave these kids to grow in their natural way. Sports, injuries and fatigues were common for us as kids; how can we forget? We explored! In our own little world, we had an extra special life!
Kids today, play in a simulated environment. I remember running till I rolled on ground and fell, with no one monitoring me, standing up and running again. This is how kids should be raised! That's the law of nature, and let's not violate it. Else we'll be answerable to no one else but our own children! I'm strongly reminded here, of a poem by Khalil Gibran-
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

Engineering, irrespective of domains, is essentially a four step process. The first step is about understanding the problem. Academically speaking, we students are never taught to identify a problem and adhere to it; instead, we are given problems for which answers are there in the prescribed text book. I strongly believe that after having selected engineering as our profession, we must start focussing on mastering and doing everything to learn as much as possible to enhance our domain knowledge, backed up with practical training. I think one of the main reasons for this thrust is the gradual shift of the IT companies of the country to higher level of outsourcing work that it aims at now.
