Importance of agriculture to kids in nigeria

Posted: Dec 26, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

Civilization began with agriculture. When our nomadic ancestors began to settle and grow their own food, human society was forever changed. Not only did villages, towns and cities begin to flourish, but so did knowledge, the arts and technological sciences.

And for most of history, society's connection to the land was intimate. Human communities, no matter how sophisticated, could not ignore importance of agriculture. To be far from dependable sources of food was to risk malnutrition and starvation.

In modern times, however, many in the urban world have forgotten this fundamental connection and that is why ;
* Agric education is an important experience for children because the world will never be without agriculture.

* It is important for kids to know where their food comes from and how important Nigeria is to agriculture.

* It is important for them to learn that the farming industry is an integral part of life.

Not many of our kids were born in the rural areas and villages, where farming activities are actually going on. It is as a result of this that this agricultural development foundation invites your school for excursion to our snail and grasscutter farm.

This is an opportunity for your pupils and students to have a look around a snail and grasscutter farm and gain insight into the latest technologies of snail breeding and grasscutter rearing. A knowledge that will help them now and in future. And we are sure, they will be fascinated by seeing these animals alive.

    The demand for snail in Nigeria and other countries of the world is very high. Exporters as well as consumers demand for it like gold. Presently, we cannot meet the local and export demand for snail but with time we shall solve this problem, at least to an extent. The value of hard currency makes it possible for exporters to source it at all cost, thus making the few available in the market to be quite expensive for an average family to afford.
