When You Are Teaching Reading At Home You Will Be Amazed How Easy It Is

Teaching reading is not rocket science so you can teach reading at home quite easily. All you need to a roadmap on how to do it.

There are many approaches to teaching reading but they way I like to go is with phonics.

Now you have to decide if you what an internet based phonics program or an offline program that you have to teach your children. The advantages of an internet based program is you can usually leave your children in front of the computer. While with other program you have to be to teach your children at home.

I like the Montessori approach to reading as it is very effective but you have to be the teacher. There is no leaving your kid in front of the computer. The Montessori approach uses sandpaper letters. You make up the word or phonic sound with the sandpaper letters and as your child traces the sandpaper letters you say the word.

It’s that simple.

It has many advantages but it takes time. I think it is possible the fastest way to learn reading as the sandpaper letters helps plant the word in your child’s mind.

One of the most important parts of teaching reading at home is reading aloud in bed as often as you can. This way your child gets to love books and reading but you should always follow the words you are reading with a pencil or your finger, so you child can see what words make what sound.

5 Simple Activities to Help Young Child Develop Friendship Skills

By: Stacey Pepper Schwartz | 02/12/2009
The first thing I teach young children is personal space. As a dance educator, it is more then just “keeping your hands to yourself” but understanding what exactly is space. Some children do not have an understanding of their bodies and when they play they easily knock into others and are considered “rough.” When the child’s whose space is inadvertently being squished speaks out the squishier can interpret this as the child does not want to be play. This can be the furthest from the truth.

Share Winter Activities with you

By: kitty | 01/12/2009
Winter won’t keep back our activity outdoor, skiing, skating, snow tubing, and even dog sledding. When the first snowflakes fall, most kids think "sledding!" and "snow day!" instead of "shoveling" and "salting." Take a page from their book and get outside to enjoy the white stuff. Go sledding or snow tubing in your backyard, a local park or golf course, or at a designated tubing hill. You don't even need a sled—a piece of cardboard or sturdy plastic does the job (do consider having your child wea

What better approach to come up with new-fangled techniques and dishes than to engage kids in cooking. Kids are unguarded to new things and have sunnier views on life because they have not been pessimistically predisposed; which is also true in food preparation. So why not register them in kids cooking classes to award them an advantage?
