We are familiar to chocolate very much. We all know that chocolate is really popular nowadays. Thousands of millions of people are interested to the toothsome snacks. Most of you have eaten chocolate but a few of you have known its history. When did it appear in our life? Why people created chocolate eggs?

As we all know, Easter is a very exhilarating festival for people who love chocolate, which means we can eat as much chocolate as we want. Sometimes, children's Easter parties can be like a feeding frenzy, children stuffing themselves full of the chocolate eggs they have found. They are crazily happy for some hours and they sleep later. In France and Germany, the first chocolate Easter eggs appeared in the 19th century. Easter is traditionally a pagan festival that celebrates spring and fertility, the egg an obvious symbol of new life.

Everyone loves chocolate, for it can make us happy and it lifts our mood. But, it's full of sugars and fats, which is not good for your health. So why does it make us feel so good? Is it just the satisfaction of eating something that we know is bad for us? Part of it is the sugar and other chemicals inside the chocolate.

Chocolate has a physiological effect on us. Chocolate stimulates the brain to release mood-lifting chemicals like endorphins and serotonin. Chocolate with high cocoa levels also tells the brain to release dopamine, the ecstasy chemical. Afterwards, we feel better, sometimes even euphoric.

However, this feeling of happiness and contentment could also be a side effect of our blood sugars coming back into balance. When our blood sugar is low, we feel cranky, tired and crave something sweet.

It's possible your chocolate craving could mean you just have low blood sugar. You might get the same happy effect from eating a piece of fruit, some nuts or another snack in between meals.

Don't be fooled with any chocolate that advertises it has anti-oxidants in it – it's not true. So, if we take it as a given that chocolate is making us happy, what about the people that make and grow it? You can now buy fair trade chocolate, which aims to give farmers and growers in third world nations a fair price for their cocoa crops, not the lowest price that multinational corporations will pay.

We should consider chocolate dialectically. It is delicious and helpful for us to somehow. In addition, chocolate also have some bad effect to our health. Don't trust advert totally. Open your eyes!
