On a cold winter evening, nothing is better than curling up in front of the fire with a delicious cup of toasty hot cocoa in your hand. Making that cup of cocoa in a hot chocolate maker would be the icing on the cake! A hot chocolate maker will mix and heat your hot cocoa to perfection, you will want one every night! Here are a few things to keep in mind so you can get the most from your hot cocoa maker.

Cocoa makers come in different sizes so you will want to think about who will be using it. If you are giving it to a family, you will want to choose a large capacity machine. These cocoa machines will make up to 60 ounces of creamy hot cocoa in a batch. You can easily serve cocoa to the whole family with one of these!

If you don't need a large pot of hot cocoa, consider purchasing a single serve beverage machine. These machines have been around for quite a while for commercial use in offices and convenience stores. But now you can get small versions that are perfect for the home or dorm room.  They use single serving k-cups to brew the perfect cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa every time. K-cups come in a wide variety of flavors from your favorite coffees and teas to creamy hot cocoa. As single serving hot beverage machines become more popular, k-cups are getting easier to find at your local grocery store.

Proper care of you cocoa maker includes keeping it clean. Most cocoa machine pitchers are not dishwasher safe because of the heating element.  However, the pitcher is very easy to clean using warm water and dishwashing soap.  Make sure you clean the pitcher right away. The milk and sugar can cook to the bottom of the cocoa maker making cleaning difficult if you wait too long.  But they are very easy to clean if you do it right after use. Just quickly wash it out while you are waiting for your cocoa to cool!

To get the very most from your hot cocoa machine, you need to keep you cupboards stocked with cocoa making ingredients! What if the craving for creamy hot cocoa hits in the middle of the night and you are out of cocoa powder? Or maybe you just have to have Mexican hot chocolate but you don't have the right spices? It doesn't take much to keep a few cocoa making supplies on hand, just add them to your weekly grocery list and you will always be ready for a cocoa craving!

If you follow these tips, a hot cocoa machine will become a much used appliance in your home. Just make sure you keep plenty of cocoa making supplies on hand so you can have delicious cocoa anytime!
