Common Misunderstanding about the Christian Faith – Is it alright to practice Yoga?

Here is a definition of Yoga from Jack Sin’s article about Yoga. I find it very precise and accurate so I have selected this for all to review. Yoga is from the Sankrit word Yug, meaning "union" (with the Divine, your higher "SELF"). Yoga is a path for transcending the ordinary mind (who you think you are) in order to merge with your "higher SELF" or "God SELF." Yoga means "to yoke" -- to yoke with Brahman (i.e., the "Infinite," the "Universal Spirit," the impersonal force that the Hindus call "God") via the realization of an altered state of consciousness, thereby theoretically releasing oneself from the bondage of endless reincarnation. Yoga comes out of the Hindu Vedas. It can be traced back to Patanjali, who was a religious leader. Shiva, one of Hinduism's three most powerful gods, was known as "The Destroyer" -- he's called Yogi Swara or the "Lord of Yoga."

Jesus said in John 10:10, I come to bring life and life more abundantly but he who is a thief comes to kill steal and destroy.

Our God is a jealous God, not like what Oprah Winfrey says that God is jealous of her. She has no understanding of this verse and it perverted her mind. God is a jealous God much like a husband who is jealous if his wife were to have any union with another man, yes, in that manner God is jealous of his bride and we the church is the bride of Jesus. If we were to worship other gods and do what the pagans do, than we are indeed committing spiritual adultery. If God is not serious with us, we need not expect him to be angry or jealous with us. We would expect him to treat the worship or indulgence of other spiritual activities as nothing in his sight. Yet our God is a true God so he will indeed be angered by our act of spiritual worship of other entities.

The other thing which is very strange is that all professing born again Christians are supposed to have the Holy Spirit in them. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, so if these people are born again spirit filled Christians why can’t they detect the truth and the lie? The lie is that Yoga is not a spiritual ritual and it is only a form of exercise of the body with no union with a high spiritual being of god. This indicates a serious flaw in a lot of self professing Christians who don’t have the Holy Spirit in them.  No matter what you say if you have the Holy Spirit you would know the truth and the truth will set you free. Yet what has light got to do with darkness, the acts of darkness. Satan is a master sales man who told Eve that the fruit from the tree of good and evil is indeed very profitable to be eaten and once taken it brings knowledge and God will not kill the violator. Now the same lie is propagated again, the same paganism form of worship by posturing is coated as a form of physical exercise for body health.

Yoga is a spiritual act of worship to a series of gods in the Hindu faith. Whether you practice the physical part only or do the complete initiation by chanting, you actually manifest the act of worship to their gods. How is this possible? In the Yoga exercise every movement and posture is an act of worship to a certain spiritual entity. Take the Cobra position for example, that is an act of prostrating to the serpent god. When we posture our body to that position, we actually prostrate to the serpent god, and you say how can this be? Well the secret of darkness belongs to the man whom God gives the knowledge to.

If you have the Holy Spirit you will know this for a fact, you will have no peace when you practice the Yoga bodily exercise as a true Christian. It is utterly irresponsible for those Yoga teachers to package and market this spiritual activity under the brand name of science and health when in actual fact it is a form of worship to Hindu gods. Whatever you worship says the Lord, you shall become like it. Those who love the darkness will gravitate towards it and find that it does not repel them. So as light and darkness can not mix, Christians who say that Yoga is an acceptable form of exercise does not know the true nature of this form of pagan worship. How can you prostrate to all those gods by those actions without any sense of guilt that you are committing spiritual adultery in the eyes of our Almighty God, unless your conscience is already seared?

A person in spiritual bondage can not free himself from this union because they have united themselves with the gods. And the spirit gods will not let you go without a fight since you have invited them into your own body which is the temple of God. The Kundalini or double helical serpents will arise within your body from the base of your spine because you have chosen to submit to this god by your posturing of submission. And we have frequently heard that practitioners of Yoga all claimed to have become more efficient and wiser in their daily work and affairs.

The posturing of the body is a pagan act of worship and it is also very much practiced in the Tibetan, Buddhist, Hindu, Taoist and other styles of worship. This is truly a fact because the serpent spirit or Kundalini whom they have invited into their body makes them wise. This is a true benefit, it’s not a boast it’s a fact. But who gave them that wisdom? It’s their gods. And how did they get this wisdom? It came through the invitation of spirits into their body by the act of submission through specific posturing. Again, the bible also mentioned that Satan claims he can give them the world if they bow to him. The bible also claims that the serpent is more crafty than any wild animals that God has made.

Genesis 3:1

[ The Fall of Man ] Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

5The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7So if you worship me, it will all be yours."

Sin has its benefits don’t be fooled, and the wages of sin is death. Sin gives pleasures and also advantage to its practitioner because it either brings immediate gratification of the lust of the flesh and also increased wisdom at the expense of your peace with God. The favor of God last forever, while the sinner takes the short road by exerting control of world events using self willed power aided by spiritual paganism rituals. Yoga is an act of ritual by physical movement and posturing to a certain position of the entire body in submission to “unknown” Hindu gods and so thus it can not blend with our Christian faith.Our God is a jealous God who will not share his glory with anything and any other gods.

And you may also question how did I come to that conclusion? Well, I will let you in on the secret, I was a practitioner of this Yoga activity and when I got saved, I vomited a lot of stuff from my body through a deliverance you would never believe. The day when I was delivered was in a Taiwan Hotel, it was on the second floor facing a big bookshop on the opposite side of the street. And on the front of this book shop was very big sign written in Chinese characters with the word, “Jesus is Lord.”  I prayed for deliverance that night and I vomited for half and hour every few seconds, I had deep vomits, and all those occult things which I had read and practiced came out through my mouth. The bible says in Deuteronomy 6:5, that we are love the Lord our God with our body, mind and spirit. Since we are on the topic of worship the Lord with our body, I will also digress a little on the subject of body tattoos.

Can a Christian also Tattoo their Bodies?

Don’t think also that tattooing the body is cool and modern. It’s not fashionable that is why we are warned not to cut our bodies as it’s the temple of God. Those people who cut there bodies with marks will have a hard time for the Holy Spirit to dwell in them because it’s a defiled temple and nothing can change that. Sure if you receive Jesus you may get your salvation, but for the Holy Spirit to dwell in such a person is not possible. Whatever you paint on your body that thing will have a claim on that part of your body. So if you draw anything on your body permanently, it will have a claim on you. You need to physically remove the tattoo for it to have no claim on your body and soul and that is a painful process, because the image must be destroyed totally.

Leviticus 19:28

Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.

Here again, we will see many arguments because some sects of the Christian faith claims that the Old Testament is entirely void and done with because Jesus came to gave us a better covenant. What did Jesus came to give us actually? Jesus voided the daily sacrifice of sins by being the perfect sacrificial lamb so that all who call on the name of the Lord our God can have their prayers heard without going to the priests because they manipulated this sacrifice for the sake of monetary gains. Jesus did not come to void the Old Testament as most prosperity preachers would have you believe.

How can God contradict himself?

If the Old Testament and the 10th commandment were to be void, how is it that if you kill anyone you are still held accountable to imprisonment or even death in some countries?  If thou shall not kill is void, why is it that the government of all countries still practice punishment for anyone who takes another’s life? Aren’t all governmental authorities being instituted by God, so how can God contradict himself, secular paganism or not, the governmental authority of all countries still bear rule over us. So is the 10th commandment now void? Obviously, this is not the case. An idiot can see that this is not the case, let alone born again spirit filled Christians who have the spirit of Christ.

Unless you understand that the Old Testament still holds us accountable for such foolishness you will never be able to understand why it is not appropriate for us to practice Yoga and to tattoo our bodies with anything we thing is cute. What we think is of no relevance to God when it comes to judgment day, but what God says we are to do and not to do will become a big issue in the one word called obedience.

Jesus said if you love him do what he says, if you love him practice what he teach. Therefore, test everything out and find the truth because the truth sets you free and not your wrong doctrines. Believing something to be right does not make it so, since its hidden secrets are not immediately known to the ordinary person without the Holy Spirit.
