Defamation Of Character : Gods!

Defamation of character is often used to describe accusations of slander, libel or both. Slander involves verbal derogatory statements, while libel involves written ones. It is a legal concept that is  notoriously difficult to prove in court, although the actual effects can be quite evident and damaging. However, proving defamation of character against the ONE God of the universe, is even more tricky. So, let me just make my case and leave it outside of the courts.  :-)

If one believes in an entity-being called the Devil, he'd have a pretty good case against humanity as well since he gets blamed for almost everything: things in particular wherein we're the true guilty parties.

For so much of the church to say that God will send people to hell for eternity is definitely DEFAMING God's character which is UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! And, ascribing to Jesus the same warnings and threats is yet another defaming diatribe. Unfortunately, the Catholic Church (they had it to themselves for the first 1,600 years- so I'm not picking on them) felt the need of a "tool of control" for societal misdeeds and so they interpreted GHENNA (a literal here and now dump and fire pit on the outskirts of Jerusalem) as HELL.

News Flash: Jesus never used the word GHENNA in association with "punishment after death". NEVER!

The Lucan (Luke 16:19-31) account attributed to Jesus wherein he does talk about someone being punished after death (The rich man and Lazarus allegory) Jesus uses the word HADES (not GHENNA). Hades is the Hebrew term meaning a place where departed souls go, not a place of eternal punishment. The truth is that Jesus NEVER talked about, nor  teach about a HELL as the church does today, and as we have come to know it.

Hell is a most SADISTIC concept employed for "control purposes, guilt, and condemnation" and a smear of the UNCONDITIONAL LOVE nature and character of God-Spirit-Consciousness. Mark Mason in his wonderful book (In Search Of A Loving God) wrote, "The modern day hell is clearly a bowing to ancient Christian doctrine at the expense of truth and puts a cloud over the wonderful truth of God. I hope that when the falseness of an 'eternal hell' becomes more widely acknowledged in the church, Ghenna will be translated in a different way, perhaps as a 'living hell' to acknowledge that Jesus was using it as a reference to the here-and-now, and not to the afterlife."

Thankfully enlightenment to the reality that God is love is growing!

As a spiritual-futurist, I have a BA degree majoring in history. One cannot know the future without knowing the past which holds clues to what is on the horizon. The world is in such a rapid expansion of knowledge that we are close to entering a tipping point that will forever change earth as we know it.

WE ARE CHRISTMAS!

By: Linda Mose Meadows | 20/12/2009
It's time to celebrate the Christ child's birth, and it's also a season for reflection and joy. In my estimation, it's really a time to give spiritual birth to new possibilities, new endeavors and new insights. It's time to unearth dreams and embrace realities yet to be seen. I believe we endeavor to capture the essence of the Christmas Spirit, Christ in our decorations, traditions, celebrations and rituals.
