God Is A Good God And He Wants To Show His Goodness To You

Every Christian that I know of beliefs that God is a good God. But how does God's goodness affect our daily walk with God? How does the goodness of God help us in living the Christian live day in and day out? In this article I am going to show you five blessings that flow out of God's goodness.

In Exodus Chapter 33 we find Moses in a conversation with God about the entrance of His people into the Promised Land. Moses asked to understand the ways of the Lord. And God's answer is simply: "My presence will go with you". But for Moses that is not enough at this point. He wants more than words.

So in verse 18: He says: "God show me your glory!"

The Hebrew word that is used here for glory means and is the same word for substance, or weight.  What Moses is saying is Lord, I really want to know who and how you really are. What are you made of? What is your substance? I don't just want to know you in general terms; I don't just want to have a vague understanding of you. I don't just want theology. No, I want to know you for who you really are in all your glory!  I want to know you totally and complete!

Do you want to make Moses' request your own request?

Let's look at God's answer to his request. Verse 19: "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you..." Why does God answer in that way? Because that is how and who God really is. He is good! God's goodness means that he is merciful! He is full of compassion! He is full of joy, peace, wisdom and grace! He is a just a great and good God!

God says Moses you want to know who and how I am? Let me show you my goodness. Goodness is my substance! You see, what is in you drives your actions. God is driven by his goodness!!! He is good and he does good. But God wants not only to show you his goodness, he wants even more that his goodness would become evident in you dally Christian life.

Psalm 106:1: "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good His loving kindness lasts forever.

Ps 119.68: "You are good and kind and do good!"

Just take these verses in. Let them sink in the very depth of you spirit, mind and soul.

To whom does God show his goodness? Let's look at some more scripture

Ps 145:9 "The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made." Do you know what the word "all" means? ALL! Good's goodness is for all his children and that includes you my dear reader!

John 10:10-11: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that you may have life and have it to the full! I am the GOOD shepherd!

God is good and he does good. Everything that steals, kills and destroys is NOT from God.

  • Everything that keeps you from being the mom and dad that you should be is NOT from God.
  • Everything that hinders you to be a good friend, a good husband or wife, is NOT from God!
  • Everything that detracts your from living an abundant Christian live is NOT from God.

James 1.16-17: "So, my very dear friends don't get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are like rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures." (The Message)

(This Bible passage has inspired me so many times in my life. I have recorded a dynamic teaching on it. It will be available for you as a free MP3 download shortly through my newsletter. So don't forget to subscribe to my weekly newsletter "My Spiritual Resources" at the end of this article.)

God is good. That is a fact; it is a truth that you should and shall experience as you live your Christian life. How is God's goodness seen in your life?

Here are just five of the many blessings for Victorious Christian Living:

1.       God's goodness forgives your sins

Psalm 86:5: "For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon you!"

Are you carrying sin and guilt around with you? Today is the day where you can experience God's goodness and God's forgiveness. I am so glad for this blessing in my life. I am receiving it almost every day because I do things wrong (almost) every day.

2.       God's goodness supplies of all your needs

Psalm 34:8-12: "Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.  Fear the Lord you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.  The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing!"

Taste and see.... Tastings and samples are meant to increase you appetite so that you want more. That is exactly why the Bible says ‘come and taste, come and see'. God wants to increase your desire for more of the good blessings from him.

3.       God's goodness also heals our sicknesses

Peter preaches at the house of Cornelius'. In Acts 10:38 he says: "...how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power and how he went around doing good and healing all how where under the power of the devil..."

He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Start to believe again that the goodness of God to heal has not changed.

Maybe you say: "But Pastor Reinhard, you're just trying to build up some hope in me."  You bet! You are 100% right! Because the Bible says if you hope and trust in the Lord and give not up so easily, than will you see the answers from the Lord in your life.

4.       God's goodness gives you favour with men

Please read the short account in Nehemiah 2:4-9:

The king granted every one of Nehemiah's requests, because the gracious hand of God was on his live. Not only gave the king Nehemiah time of to go to Jerusalem to rebuild the city walls but he also paid for the whole thing to!

When the gracious hand of God touches your life, things begin to happen. God things start to take place!

Some of you are in a position, where you need favour with people. Start praising God for his goodness and ask him to be your lawyer. His goodness will give you favour with people. Expect God's favour in your life today, for this day.

5.       God's goodness is your protection against those, who stand up against you and lie

Please read Psalm 31:16-20

Are you being mobbed at work? Do you have enemies that stand up against you to pull you down? Are people telling lies about you, even other Christians?

The goodness of the Lord which is stored up your YOU will be your shield against the attacks of your enemies. Don't run away from your enemies. The Message translation says in Psalm 23:5 reads: "You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head: my cup brims with blessings."

Become quiet and know that He is God. Hide in the presence of the Almighty! I know you want to fight! But it is your old nature that wants to fight. You can not win this fight! The only thing you can do is to take your refuge in God, in his presence. Only there will you be save! God will protect your soul, your emotions and your family from the fruits of the liars.

There is one thing that you need to do in order to make these blessings your own.

You have to believe! That means you have to be convinced. Like David, the man after God's own heart.

David writes in his Palm 27:13: "I am still convinced of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the Land of the Living!"

Here, in this life, in your life, on this earth, in your circumstances in your difficult situations you will see God's goodness in action. Now in this life you will experience how good it feels when your sins are forgiven. You will see how good god is when he supplies your needs. You shall rejoice when God's goodness causes your body to be healed through His sacrifice on Calvary. You will cry for happiness when his stored up goodness becomes your refuges when people are trying to destroy you. You will be more than blessed when you see how God's goodness causes you to have favour  with men, and your circumstances, that seemed to be irremovable will change because the gracious hand of the Lord is on your life.

I pray that the truth of this article will become a vibrant part of you daily Christian life. God bless you!

For Religious Reading, Prayer, And Living A Spiritual Life Before I enter into a long remark and analysis on the worth of living the spiritual life, and of keeping a copy of this pocket size book The Rule of St. Benedict, I want to write a short introduction on what is the basis of my theme for the use of the book: prayer. Then to discuss the work as I see it as a contribution to ones own life of living in the world and in the light of God’s presence. --Peter Menkin, Obl Cam OSB (2000)

Most Christians today conform to a set of church teachings which defines their unique denominations, but this is only a subset of the total way of the Lord. They become conformed to external compliance to a standard religious behavior set by their pastor’s knowledge and understanding. They are more bound by peer pressure and desperately seek the approval of fellow Christians. The real Christian are sons and daughters of God, they walk in Spirit and Truth, their transformation is real.

If there is any ticket to making it at the rapture it is the fear of the Lord. As we shall be seeing much later we require it after we have been saved to work out our salvation; that is what we need have and grow in to be perfecting holiness (God's kind of life that takes to heaven); and it is actually the link between here (this side of eternity) and there (that eternity with the triune God), hence we are told to pass the time of our sojourning here in fear!

It is God's will for you to be in good health so you can live an abundant life through Jesus Christ our Savior. God still loves you unconditionally, even when you're overweight, but we need to do everything that we can to show respect and honor for the body that He has given us.

For centuries the Jewish people had heard from the scriptures, prophets, priests and rabbis that God would fulfill His promise and establish a New Covenant with His people through the Messiah. On this day in Acts 2 God fulfilled His promise and poured out His Spirit on His people.

The Bible is full of knowledge and wisdom ripe for the picking by those who will seek it out. Bible study and reading are ways that people gain from the Bible directly. In all of our reading and studying of the Bible, we should be able to gain something from the Bible. See how observation can be incorporated to assist in Bible study for greater depth of understanding from the Bible.

The way to multiply God's blessings in your life is by applying the law of sowing and reaping. If a farmer wants a greater harvest, then he just has to sow more seeds into the ground. He has to prepare the field more carefully, take better care of the weeds and water more regularly. In this article I want to show you how to apply these principles to your spiritual life.

The way we multiply God's blessings in our life is by understanding and applying the law of sowing and reaping. In another article we talked about the need to sow more seeds and to spend time in preparing the soil. In this article we are going to learn that we also need to take the time to get rid of the weeds in our spiritual field and that the soil needs to be kept moist.

What is the secret of living a fulfilled and satisfied Christian life each and every day? You have to understand, that today is a new day. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not here yet. All you have is the now! Whatever happened yesterday, and whatever will happen tomorrow – NOW is where you are. Christian fellowship within the context of the church means identification with the Body of Christ. Identification with the Body of Christ is all about relationships with other believers. To be a Christian does not only mean to be a believer in Christ. To be a believer in Christ also means to belong to the Body of Christ. As a believer you are a living cell in a living body. Christian Fellowship is identification with the Body of Christ, meaning with other believers.
