Growing in the Lord

GROWING IN THE LORD

As a Christian, have you ever sat down and wondered whether you are growing spiritually? I don’t think so. Many Christians today are too busy thinking about worldly matters rather than their souls.

"Christians" these days get up and forget to pray or read the bible because they must arrive in time to Mrs. so so and so's party, go to the theatre to watch a worldly movie, go to the mall to buy too many unnecessary items including the latest sexy dresses. Then come back home at noon. Afterwards, they must meet their worldly friends and chat about worldly things at worldly places. Then they would have some beer and then watch the latest movie that contains so many pornographic scenes. Finally, they arrive home in the evening too "tired" to have their evening bible study but not too tired to watch the daily night movie. They then retire to their beds and say " God should protect me so that tomorrow I can go back to the mall to buy those lovely shoes I saw today."

This is the life that most Christians are living today but they call themselves Christians. This routine goes on daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. TOO SAD. We don't want to sit down and examine our lives just for a moment and see whether we are gaining spiritually or losing spiritually. We don't want to get closer to God but we really want to get closer to this world which we will all leave soon. We don't feel ashamed for becoming lovers of this world and becoming enemies with God. We fail to see that we are backsliding spiritually.

These days, real pastors, ministers, preachers and followers of God are laughed and mocked at. Other followers of God are becoming followers of this world. Good , old, spiritual hymns are mocked at. Dirty, filthy songs are now approved. Pornographic materials have taken the world by storm. Adultery, fornication and bad movies are the ones enjoyed now. Only few people are still standing for Christ.

Dear reader, please meditate on this article for a while. Please change from your bad deeds. Please spend more time with God and not with your worldly friends. Pray, study and meditate on the word of God. Find good, christian friends who will help you grow spiritually. Spend time envagelizing to people rather than going to the theatre to watch sexually exciting movies. And God would surely bless you, guide you and protect you.

AMEN!!!!!!

What is a Christian?

By: Eliza Pistis | 28/11/2009

By: Matthew Toone | 28/11/2009

And I will look up and psalm 5

By: Joseph Jagde | 28/11/2009
When David says in this psalm, And I will look up this is the indication that this is what pleases the Lord, along with his voice in prayer, his direct approach to him in the moring, and all else, the very sight of the psalmist David looking up was pleasing to the Lord who surrounds his saints with favor on an individual basis.
