For instance, the Online Etymology Dictionary, at etymonline.com, has respectable etymologies normally. However, for the word, "abraxas" I learned that Wikipedia had a better etymology, than has the Online Etymology Dictionary. Sometimes other sources are better.
While you realize how to study the Bible, be aware that there is another factor. In the period when the King James Bible was authorized, many English words were defined differently from today's definitions. One of my Bible editions offers a list of those terms, and what they mean in the holy writ. Hard it is to inspect the list and to realize what words we ought to reconsider, while we study the holy scripture. With such a big list, what ought we to do? Look up every word in a chapter, to see whether it has an unlike definition, from the definition which we already know? It is as well the German word for "yes", which is "ja". The letters "j", "y", and "i", can often be found to be able to be substituted, for each other. The German tongue may be an evolution from of ancient Hebrew. Thus the American "yeah" (which is derived from "ja") can also be seen as a name of God.
But to return to the main thrust -- the extremely quaint word "ja" deals with breathing. Nevertheless, in the concordances and etymologies, the idea of breath has been left out of the definitions of the names and terms that have "iah", "jah", or "ia" therein, and words for "God" have been substituted. This is for the reason, that the wisdom of the breath is a private subject, and is often kept out of books.
Ultimately, we need to develop our faith in the Heavenly Father, to direct us to the right sense of his meanings, and this we do by going into the King James Bible oft, and carrying out the things that the Heavenly Father has put forth for us.
