Restoring the Sabbath | Three Months in a Row

Posted: Jan 23, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

In the beginning, the Creator set aside holy time: the Sabbath.  Time can only be measured by movement.  The sun and moon were appointed to be the Creator's time-keeping system.

"He appointed the moon for seasons [mo'edim]."  (Psalm 104:19)  Mo'edim: worshipping assemblies

"The months of the year were lunar, and began with the new moon."  (The Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, p. 631.)

"The New Moon is still, and the Sabbath originally was, dependent upon the lunar cycle . . . ." (Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, p. 410)

The calendar of Creation is luni-solar: lunar months anchored to a solar year.  The lunar month starts with New Moon day, a worship day.  Six work days follow with the Sabbath always falling on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th.  The weekly cycle restarts each New Moon.

Scripture records details of the Exodus, the Manna and the Mountain proving that the calendar of the Bible is lunar with three identical months in a row - something not possible on the modern solar calendar.

THE EXODUS

The Israelites were told to kill the Passover lamb on the fourteenth, the sixth day of the week, and not leave their houses until the morning.  "In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is . . . [Yahuwah's] passover."  (Leviticus 23:5)

"Kill the Passover lamb, . . . And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning.  For . . . [Yahuwah] will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and . . . [He] will pass over [you]."  (Exodus 12:21-23)

The fifteenth was always a Sabbath.  The Israelites rested in their homes over  the Sabbath and left Egypt that night after the sacred hours were past.

"Observe the month of Abib, and keep the Passover to . . . [Yahuwah your Mighty One], for in the month of Abib . . . [Yahuwah your Mighty One] brought you out of Egypt by night."  (Deuteronomy 16:1)

"On the fifteenth day of the first month; on the day after the Passover the children of Israel went out with boldness in the sight of all the Egyptians."  (Numbers 33:3)

THE MANNA

One month after leaving Egypt, Yahuwah sent quail to the Israelites followed by manna the next morning.  The dates given in scripture reveal that the second month of the year was identical in format to the first month.

"And they departed from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai; and on the fifteenth day, in the second month after their departure from the land of Egypt, all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron."  (Exodus 16:1, 2, Septuagint)

The children of Israel complained of low food supplies on the fifteenth.  That night Yahuwah supplied quail, and the following morning, on the sixteenth, He sent manna.  The Israelites were commanded to gather manna every morning, with a double portion on the Preparation Day, because no manna was to be sent on the Sabbath.

So they gathered it every morning . . . and so it was, on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much . . . Then he [Moses] said to them, "This is what  . . . [Yahuwah] has said: ‘Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest . . . .'"  (Exodus 16:21-23)

The Israelites complained of low food supplies on the fifteenth.  They received manna on the sixteenth and every day until the Sabbath.  In Exodus 16, Moses identified the twenty-second as a Sabbath when they received no manna.  For the second month in a row, the format of the monthly calendar is identical to the first.

THE MOUNTAIN

Scripture supplies the date the Israelites arrived at Sinai: on the fifteenth day of the third month.  "In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai."  (Exodus 19:1)

Yahuwah would not have broken His own Sabbath by having them travel during the sacred hours of the Sabbath.  As with leaving Egypt, they often traveled in the cool hours of night.  "[Yahuwah] went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night."  (Exodus 13:21)

With the month beginning on new moon day, and the arrival at Mt. Sinai being "the same day" as the departure from Egypt, the third month in a row can be filled in and is shown to be identical in format to the first and the second months.

CONFIRMATION

Forty years later, under the leadership of Joshua, Israel again observed the Passover on the fourteenth.  The manna ceased on the sixteenth, the first day of the week, forty years after Yahuwah first sent it.

So the children of Israel . . . kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight . . . And they ate of the produce of the land on the day after the Passover, unleavened bread and parched grain on the very same day.  Now the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year."  Joshua 5:10-12

Fifteen hundred years later, Yahushua, the true Passover Lamb, was also crucified on the sixth day of the week, on the Passover.  "Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken . . . ."  (John 19:31)

The divine time-keeping system established at Creation was luni-solar.  Dates provided in scripture reveal a calendar with three identical months in a row.  This is not possible on the modern solar calendar.  Only when the weekly cycle restarts with each New Moon can the details of the exodus, the manna, the mountain and the confirmation of the crucifixion Passover fit the facts of calendation.  These facts prove the use of lunar calendation during the time of Moses and the Messiah.

To worship on the true Sabbath sanctified at Creation, one must use the calendar established by Yahuwah and confirmed at the Exodus and the crucifixion.

Modern Easter has no basis in the pure religion of Heaven. All of its traditions are pagan. Celebration of Easter does not honor the death and resurrection of the Saviour and no amount of renaming it by Christian names can purify Easter of its pagan origins.

Christmas... Many sincere Christians often speak of putting the Christ back into Christmas. The problem is, Yahushua the Saviour was never "in" Christmas to begin with! To discover the god being honored at Christmas, it is necessary to trace its pagan origins.

The modern weekly cycle has no ties to anything in nature. Because of this, problems arise that do not exist in the Luni-Solar calendar of Creation: specifically, the need for an arbitrary International Date Line. A continuous weekly cycle, anchored to nothing in nature, is a man-made institution. The International Date Line is simply a man-made solution to what is nothing more than a man-made problem.
