The importance of meditation
Job Chapter 15 verse 4,
Says from the New Revised Standard version of the Bible:
´but you are doing away with fear of God, and hindering meditation before God"
Eliphaz was giving his reading as to what Job was doing, and although as the story progresses, he wasn't accurate about what was happening with Job, the wisdom is still there as to the importance of not impeding your own pathways to the Lord and the specific importance of meditation before the Lord as an individual.
Everybody these days seems to be busy or even super busy, and if this is not the case they try hard to give that impression to both themselves and others.
It may be part of a hard driving modern economy where more is good and even more is better and that is to include more toil and diligence about what is deemed important.
What Job is alleged to have done here, may be what many of us are doing right now, that is casting aside the holy awe of the Lord by not meditating before him and hindering that process.
The irony is that many of us also feel hampered and hindered in what we might like to or prefer to do in our own lives.
Despite great efforts educationally, work wise, and so on, many people feel well short of personal and professional goals.
This special verse shows that we may have run ahead of ourselves in some or many cases by not meditating before the Lord and hampering the graces and gifts that were only coming our way had attention been heeded.
This specific item and inspiration of wisdom from the book of Job, brings about a quite important issue for anyone who feels hindered in any way.
The starting point of this and the first thing to look at is meditation before the Lord or the lack thereof.
If you aren't experiencing needed and wanted breakthroughs, whether it be relationally, financially, finding your comfort zones, making wanted changes and exploring your dreams, the first place to look, the starting point is to get before the Lord in the throes of meditation, and find someplace that is comfortable, such as maybe a relatively quiet church if you are in a busy urban area and meditate before the Lord, and bring a notepad to jot down any inspirations that might arise.
By not doing this, you are casting aside important aspects of the holy fear of the Lord, and respect for the position and power of the Almighty Lord.
We do know that prior to all his troubles, Job was quite busy, well situated in so many ways and had a lot going on. It apparently was not true that in this case he neglected meditating before the Lord, but the wisdom of Eliphaz here shows that this is a major first thing to look at when things are going wrong.
And his pointing to Job, shows that however busy and blessed someone might be, there is still the call to stop sturdy and meditate before the Lord.
And this call is on an individual basis, you can't rent someone to meditate for you.
David, like Job at his earlier heights, had high prominence in society and was quite in the action and limelight, however with his writings in the Psalms David mentions in several places the importance of meditating before the Lord
In this day and age, despite some booming technology among other things, people in many cases do have a sense of being hindered and hampered about what they truly want.
When this is the case, the first place to go is meditating before the Lord, who controls all the floodgates of graces that may or may not be unleashed on your behalf depending.
This is a very important verse from the Bible for anyone who feels hampered in any way and nobody is exempt from the need to meditate before the Lord and the time and space for this should be a major priority and not cast aside.
