The Universality Of Christ

Jesus didn't come some 2,000 years ago to announce that everyone who wasn't what's become popularly known as a "Christian" would spend eternity in hell. The arrogance of many Christian to parlay John 14:6 (I am the way, the truth and the light and no one comes to the Father than through me) has cost millions of people their physical lives through Crusades, Inquisitions, and the like.

Of course we can find anything we want in the Bible to name and claim it: and then ram it down the throats of everyone that disagrees!  :-(

Yes, Jesus says is reported as having said in John 10:11 that he lays down his life for HIS SHEEP, but read the next verse as well (John 10:12) which says, "I have OTHER SHEEP that are not in this fold (can you say Christian religion?) and,  I MUST bring them also." Mark Mason writes, "The church has used John 14:6 to deny the universality of Christ, a universality that even Paul was aware of, stating that Christ was the spiritual strength of the children of Israel during the Exodus, over a thousand years before Jesus was born (I Cor. 10:1-4)."

Jesus affirmed such in his John 8:58 statement, "Before Abraham was I AM".

Traditional and especially hard line fundamentalist Christians embrace a narrowness and an exclusivity that denies other religions and seeks to convert ALL OTHERS which sets up a DUALITY and potential war with the likes of fundamentalist Muslims who have the opposite view. Until we abandon such arrogant claims which in fact deny the words of Jesus himself, the world will continue to see turmoil and the Kingdom of God will continue to be postponed.

Let's get on with AWAKENING to the truths of Jesus who became the Christos: that same light that resides in ALL of us, but let that LIGHT SHINE however and with whatever COLOR it IS.

As a spiritual-futurist, I have a BA degree majoring in history. One cannot know the future without knowing the past which holds clues to what is on the horizon. The world is in such a rapid expansion of knowledge that we are close to entering a tipping point that will forever change earth as we know it.

No Room for Christ at Christmas

By: Elizabeth Jakimow | 17/12/2009
In Bethlehem, over 2000 years ago, it was hard to find a place for the Baby Jesus to be born. In the 21st Century, we are still finding it hard to make room for Jesus in our lives. Maybe it's time to remove Santa from the honoured place at Christmas, and put Christ there instead. (This article originally appeared in http://fringefaith.blogspot.com)
