Time to Face the Truth – Do you know your God?

Many church goers do not know their God, and I mean they have no relationship with God. They prefer to read the bible, go to church and meeting people and converse in religious language but inside they are dry as the dead bones in the Book of Ezekiel. Reading the bible can never replace experiencing God in our lives. God is real and he still communicates with his beloved children. I once met a Pastor of a Methodist Church and I asked him if he had ever experience God, and he said yes, once. This is a very sad thing for a 65 years old man to say that he only experience God once in his life time. Is God very insufficient that he has no time for us? I think not.
Being a risk taker, I love to experience God first hand. The bible says, he who wants to save his own life will loose it, but he who is willing to loose his life shall find life. This refers to the conservative Christians who do not want God to be in their life, they just are happy reading about God. They produce no testimonies of their own, since they never experience God in their lives. The wise men said, the safest place for a ship to be is in the harbor, but ships are useless if they remain in the harbor for they are built to sail the world across the oceans with their big storms and waves. So similarly, if we play it safe by just reading the bible and going to church and yet not experiencing God then we are as good as lying to ourselves that God is real. Since we do not even trust God on small things how can we trust God for bigger things? Faith has to be grown one prayer at a time. No one can say they trust God the minute that get baptized, no one. I have seen none.
Most people say they trust God, but when a crisis comes they start to ask God why such things happen to them. Let me share a simple story with you all, recently, I asked my little daughter if her prayer to God really works. But before I tell you the story, I shall share with you all how I got my daughter to start praying to God. When my daughter Jessica was very little, I mean like 3 years old, I started to tell her to start praying to God. She was a very obedient daughter and she asked me how to pray to God. I showed her how easy it is to speak to God, and she proceeded to pray the way I taught her. When she began to start schooling, she had begun to pray to God. One day, I asked her if her prayers to God were answered. She said yes.
And I was curious about her prayers, so I asked her what she prayed. She replied, "I prayed to God to help me be the best student in my class, in fact to be the top student". Then I asked her if God had answered her prayer and she said yes. She has since been top of her class for 4 straight years. Now why is this so? The reason is very simple. She had child-like faith and besides which little girl at her age prayed daily to the Lord our God, not many indeed. So she became God's favorite little girl, because every time I thought of her, I prayed for her to gain wisdom and favor from her teachers and friends and each time God answered my prayers. I am very happy to have a daughter who prays to God since the age of 3. This daughter is truly a gift from God and she completes my joy. And if a little girl like that can experience the love of God who answers prayers why then adults like us can not even be sure if we know our God. This is truly a sad thing to know that our God is a real and true God, yet he does not answer our prayers.
God shows himself more than once to me in various things which I do in my daily life. If we don't experience God one prayer at a time, how can we do exploit with God if he asks us to do a big thing? Knowing God and making new friends are about the same, we need to have many experiences and good ones to know that we can trust him every time we seek him on our present need and situation. When we pray, the problem is that we don't really expect to receive a reply, so we pray and forget. Many times, God send people to speak to us but we are not aware that he has already told us what to do. I shall give you another example of how God speaks to me. Many years ago, I had to seek God on a very personal matter and I really did not know which way I should go about to solve my problem.
So I prayed to God, and he sent me 3 consecutive answers and they were all the same sentences. I asked God what should I do about the matter and he send a man to speak to me, a stranger, and that man told me "not to push". The next day I called my mother-in-law and she said the same thing "not to push". Later on, I asked God for a final confirmation and I was led to a meeting with a man who just lost his wife to a car accident, and during the meeting, he told me "not to push" so I decided not to pursue the matter and went back home. When we pray, we have to expect God to answer and if he does not answer then we have to ask God why he does not answer our prayers. In that we can understand why God did certain things. On one special occasion, I was reading my bible and I had a problem which I wanted to seek God. I wanted to know how to communicate with him. As I was reading the bible, I was led to Jeremiah 6:16.
Jeremiah 6:16 (New International Version) 16 This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.'
This verse truly led me to look at the Old Testament to find out how God communicates with his people. Then I learn all the ancient ways and started to pray to the Lord our God in old ways and he was found by me. Truly God started to speak to me in ways we can not comprehend and never expected. He can make anything and everything response to my questions. As an example of how he can speak to me in times of my need outside the bible, I say share with you this very simple yet powerful example. One day in the midst of my disappointment and grief, I asked God is he really loves me. Then I heard in my spirit the most absurd idea to wait for 5 minutes before I drive off. I thought, I asked God if he loved me and he said to wait 5 minutes, what a strange answer.
But I obeyed just in case. Then as I drove off after that 5 minutes wait, I suddenly saw a Shalom Movers Van cutting into my lane and the very words on its back was "Jesus Loves You". My God, I almost couldn't keep laughing and marvel at how God can answer my prayers like that. It's a miracle and God showed me he is everywhere and always present to let us know his will. He is truly a Great God we serve and I was very happy that he can answer me like that in the streets and not with bible verses nor in church but right in the middle of the express way.

This is a secret which brought much light into my life. The bible says God is always searching the earth, looking for people who will seek him to understand and walk in his ways and he will then prosper them. Prospering in the things of God means God will cause everything we do to succeed.
What has light got to do with darkness? Christian should be the salt of the earth as the bible says. Being the salt meant that anything which comes into contact with it will not rot away. Hence, the Lord uses the meaning of the salt to explain the usefulness and preventive decay of society when Christians are still present on this earth.
Give to God and God will give back to you in many folds return is an absurd teachings. God owns the entire whole and he does not need your money. If God wants to get something done he can and will. All he has to do is to cause some great pagan kings sleepless nights until he fulfills God's wishes. Look at King Nebchadnezzar and King Cyprus, they were both pagans yet they served the Lord God Almighty and acknowledges that he is God.
