What Does God Really Want?

If God truly wanted perfect people then He could have created them. So then, God doesn’t want perfect people!  Why not?  I thought perfection was what we are trying to achieve.

If God removed your weaknesses what would you do? This is a good question and many people would respond with “I don’t know.” Well, let’s look at the averages.  Most people rarely give God the time of day, even though they realize they are beholding to their Creator. That is, if they need God, they will cry out in the night and pray diligently for help. But, when things are smooth, they are nowhere in sight.  So, can you imagine what the average person would do if they had no weakness?
By ‘removing weaknesses’ I mean they would not have desires for lust, greed, envy, covetousness, jealousy, slothfulness, gluttony or any form of abuse.  At an early age this person would realize that the gospels about sin would not apply to them and their pride might consume them.  Ah yes the clincher – pride, good old pride. The ultimate downfall of any creature is pride.  You see, pride is not a weakness.  It is the acceptance of self centeredness.  The more perfect you are, in an imperfect world, the greater the risk of pride.
So, God's point was to create creatures, give them weaknesses and then hold them accountable for those weaknesses?  Then, when they are down on their luck, they can cry out for forgiveness to their God because they are weak and sinful!  It doesn’t really sound like a great plan now does it?  Especially coming from an omnipotent being with unlimited intelligence.  So, what does God really want?
We supposedly have free will, but this is not exactly true either.  Every man, woman and child must answer to their environment, the law of man and the law of God. The statement by Martin Luther that “Only God has free will.” is truthful since only God can do exactly what He wants without answering to anyone. Could you kill 100,000 people with no consequences?  Of course not!  But, one earthquake or great flood sent by God can destroy millions of lives only to serve His purpose.  If you killed one person without repenting, according to most theologies, you will suffer eternal damnation.  God did not repent for the death of anyone during the great plagues of Europe or during the great flood in Noah’s days.  But then, everything God does is perfect so He answers only to Himself and He is incapable of error.
Let’s assume that God doesn’t really care about you or me.  He just created us for His entertainment; much like watching the dinosaurs roam the earth – here today gone tomorrow. That may answer some questions but not all of them.  If God just liked watching man do stupid things or innovative things then why would He destroy mankind by flooding the earth, just when the entertainment was at an all time high?  Or, why send Jesus to sacrifice Himself for people who simply entertain you?
You see, to think that God does not care what we do is more illogical than saying He doesn't care when the sun sets.  God lives through every man, woman and child ever created.  His creation is His love and mankind is His greatest creation under heaven.  Imagine living through the life of everyone ever created, if you truly loved each individually!  Imagine sharing their hopes, dreams, fears, loves and, yes, their weaknesses.  Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest…”
It is true that only God has the power of life and death.  And, if He wants to chastise mankind at any time, then it is for a purpose.  All those people who lost their lives during the Great Flood in Noah's day had ample time to ask God's forgiveness.  And, I'm sure many did, only to their eternal benefit.
God, by the end of time, will have created every possible being that can be created and therein He will have lived through everyone’s life.  And in doing so, He will strive for our love and affection even in the face of our weaknesses, because our weaknesses are not alien to our God.  He gave them to us for a purpose.  They are the means by which we mortify ourselves, remove our pride and allow Him the chance to be with us.

By: Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil | 30/12/2009
The Bible says that they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever. However, the righteous "Ruth", the grandmother of King David and the ancestor Lord Jesus was Moabite. On the other hand, the Ammonite and the Moabite are not mentioned therein in the Quran.

Writing, like any other discipline, requires practice and study. Avid readers tend to have the edge on non-readers when it comes to composing essays or articles.
