Which Peace Do You Want?
During the dog days of summer, I feel for those who have to work outside. First you have the guys who work on the roads for the Department of Transportation. They are out on the streets filling pot holes, repairing streets with hot asphalt and breathing exhaust fumes from cars.
Then you have the roofers. They have to carry shingles up a ladder to the roof or they're pouring hot tar over a roof all while working directly in the sun with no shade in sight. That is a brutal job. I know because I had to do it one summer.
Now some of us who are fortunate enough to work in an air conditioned environment have our moments of hard labor. It usually comes in the form of mental labor and not physical labor. What I mean is we're more tired because of stressful situations than we are because of physical ones.
Stressful situations take a different toll on you. Yes it can wear on your body and make you tired but it can also cause you to be forgetful, angry, not focused and have restless nights.
Stress will take away your peace if not dealt with!
John 14:27 says Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
What situations in life are robbing you of peace? Is it the job? Is it your marriage? Is it a relationship? Is it an addiction? Or is it a no win situation?
In order to have true peace, we must be connected with the ultimate peace maker and His name is Jesus. The peace that He gives us is irreplaceable and it is not temporary.
The peace of Christ is a peace that surpasses all understanding which means it is greater than and transcends anything we can imagine or comprehend.
The peace of the world is temporary.
Think about the things we consider peaceful. They don't last forever. There are only for a season unlike the peace that Jesus gives us.
So the next time you're in a situation and all hell is breaking loose and you are troubled and afraid, grab a hold of the peace of Christ and you won't go wrong.
Be Encouraged and Have a Great Day!
