Rolls Royce AFTERMARKET wheelcovers and hubcaps

From the time I had my first Bentley which was about thirty years ago now, an ongoing situation with the wheel covers has plagued me. I was in Santa Barbara California about thirty years ago on a date. I drove my 1962 Bentley S1 Saloon from Los Angeles on a summer evening. I stopped at a convenience store along the journey to purchase some ice for my champagne I brought along. as I exited the store I saw a young man tugging at one of my wheel covers. as he got it off I shouted at him and began to run after him. My lack of speed to my choice to weight lift instead of run allowed in to quickly outrun me while holding my wheel cover. This resulted in quite a few consequences. The first was now I would be driving around without a cap looking ridiculous and the other would be trying to find a replacement.

After the weekend I was determined to get a cap immediately. I called around Los Angeles and found several ranging for $250 to $500 a piece , and was angered further. There was no point in buying a new cap because it simply would not match.

Rolls Royce and Bentley cars have had virtually the same steel wheels from the clouds to the shadows , to the spurs. That is about  35 years. The stock caps are stainless steel 15" with painted trim rings and come with slots on the later years. Stainless is great for corrosion in the British saltwater climate but if you bend or ding ,it is almost impossible to repair. Almost every single Rolls or Bentley on the road with wheel covers has bent, dinged or crooked caps. I always take notice of this especially when I am in the West palm beach , Florida areas where these cars are most common. The stock caps rattle constantly ,wobble and are difficult to secure. In time they frequently fall off causing you aggravation and expense.

I have a 1967 Roll Royce silver shadow coupe and a 1985 Roll Royce silver spirit. Both of these cars have the troublesome caps. I wanted some chrome wheels or wheel covers. The chrome wheels if you can find them cost $4000 a set and the chrome literally cracks off them in very little time. After exhausting myself on this issue I was able to find the solution.

A company out of California made some beautiful ABS heavily chromed caps and retooled the clips so they would fit these specialty cars. I quickly acquired a set for each car only to find thy looked fabulous on both cars. There were no rattles and I had modern beautiful CHROME wheel covers at a fraction of the cost of old, noisy, used originals. You can view and acquire them on www.flashco.us  you are sure to love them as I do..

Owning a classic car is often called a labor of love. Anyone that has one knows that the project is never finished. Once the older vehicle is running, other parts often need to be restored. For serious classic car enthusiasts, garages, car lifts and tools are all important elements to restoring older vehicles. Casual mechanics focus on keeping them competitive at car shows or at least the road worthy and fun to drive.
