Tractor hobbyists need accurate components for headlights

Luckily, most farmers way back when knew their land in their sleep. To make the most of their short planting season, they likely needed to finish plowing the back 40 after dinner, in the dark. They would then make their way home, without the convenience of having back or front lights on their tractor. Electric lighting was usually an option on farm tractors between the 1930s and 1950s. Many ordered this handy feature. Farmers who chose to forego tractor lighting probably had a few stressful evenings. After all, the work needed to get done; no matter the hour. Farmers are glad that lights are standard on todays farm equipment. Tractor restorers often have to replace vintage headlights and taillights. Over time, the gaskets experience dry rot, reflectors scratch, wiring fails, glass cracks, light terminals crack and holdings get rusted. Thankfully Steiner Tractor Parts offers a comprehensive list of repair components. You can also get light kits at Steiner, too. Steiner Tractor Parts offers lights for John Deere 2 cylinder Waterloo models (A, B, 50, 60, 520, 530 etc) that feature correct stud length. Be careful, while some aftermarket companies list lights for these models, they do not always have the accurate stud length. The stud length on our part number, JDS603 (6 volt) and JDS606 (12 volt) is 1-3/16 inch, just like your original lights. These are correct for the John Deere Model A, and Model B, with the sheet metal dash. If you have a John Deere Model A or Model B with a cast iron dash, Steiner also sells the tractor lights (which are correct for the John Deere Dubuque models, too) with extended stud and bushing. Many other styles of lights are also available including tail light assemblies for earlier and later models.

The clunk should be more pronounced under load. I have only had a few situations like this and must say that most of my dealings with tractor people have been positive experiences. If you already know the make of the tractor ("Farmall", or "Ford" or "Massey-Harris", etc) but you just don't know the model ("Farmall Model A", "Ford 8N", "Massey-Harris Pony", etc) then you may want to purchase a book covering your particular manufacturer. If you have a very rare and collectable ...

What is in a name plate? Your classic Ford refurbish deserves a classic Ford name plate Of course your classic Ford has been subject to all elements, including sleet, snow and wind. After all, it is a tractor, and meant to be put to work. Many have known it as a workhorse, because it replaced the actual workhorse on most working farms. The American tractor has never minded mud, dirt or storms. No wonder then that some of the external parts have washed off over time, and need to be replaced.

Too low or too high? Give your tractor a gauge that is just right Does your tractor gauge read Too Low and Too High all the time? The first step for repair is to determine exactly what is defective. This is what you do. If your gauge registers at Too Low all the time, this is almost always caused by a high resistance connection in one or more of the wires. The wire connection to the gas tank gauge is likely a bayonet connection.
