Spring/Summer 2011 has seen the rise of the chino. Long gone is the stereotypical straight leg safe Granddad attire chino. In has come a new breed of cool. Drop crotch, twisted seams, skinny, carrot and a multitude of adjectives more than you will ever understand. Coming in an array of colours, there really is a pair of chinos to suit anybody's taste or body shape.
The public have spoken with their wallets, and are splashing the cash on this season's hottest item. Some retail stores are actually reporting sales figures of chinos that are just as strong as denim! Quite a turnaround for the once un-cool trouser.
And that is the beauty of fashion... One minute it is seen as out, and then it can undergo a transformation in its image either by design or who has worn it. This gives the product a new lease of life. Over the years, a product can have many peaks and troughs of popularity.
