Homecoming – the Initial Formal Wear Affair of the School Year

What exactly about Homecoming is so great? Every single aspect of it! Traditionally, homecoming occurs in September and is the first formal event of the academic year. The entire student body is visibly excited about it, and almost everyone attends the event. At homecoming, the girls love to show off their fabulous styles in fashions that would be the envy of any girl, especially those not able to attend the prom. The males are usually not as excited about getting dressed up, but do like the idea of attending prom with one of the most attractive girls in the school.

Homecoming is a special time, and you will want to start preparing for it as early as possible, especially if you have been nominated for Homecoming Queen. Planning for this event is really important as any delay in choosing a dress can cause disappointment. Designer dresses are low in supply and sell out quickly. Because the production of designer gowns is limited, it will be difficult to find the best styles of the year unless you start shopping early. If you do begin early, you will have the added reward of wearing a unique dress to the dance.

Check out what gowns are available this season, and select one from the designer you prefer, one whose styles will best suit you. Jovani and Flirt are my two favorite designers. The dresses I like the most are in the Jovani "Beyond the Prom" style, which I can also use as great New Years Eve party dresses. Once you have found a designer whose dresses you like, shopping and trying on different dresses is a lot of fun. Sometimes, when your local store's selection is limited, you may need to shop online.

For a perfect fit, measure yourself carefully, at least two times, and then consult the charts your chosen designer provides. It is important to take your measurements and compare them to the size chart of the designer gown you want to purchase, especially if you are purchasing online. Designer charts vary by design; do not make the mistake of getting designer charts mixed up and accidentally getting the wrong size. For instance, in the Jovani "Beyond the Prom" style, I wear a size 4. But in the Flirt styles, I wear a size 6.

Even if you are in the middle of the greatest scheme to lose weight since the beginning of fad dieting, be realistic and order a dress in the size you are, not the size you hope to be. It feels great when the miracle diet works and you drop 20 pounds all of a sudden, but a tailor can make the appropriate alterations in no time to make you look totally fabulous. So, while you may be tempted to buy a dress in the size you hope to be, don’t do it. That may add stress that will sabotage your diet, and then you will have nothing to wear to Homecoming.

When you search online for gowns, the selection is much larger and it is less likely that another girl will be wearing the same dress at the dance. You can discover some great prices as well! Online department stores have the ability to focus on one product, unlike brick and mortar stores that won't give you as good a deal because of extra costs. Once you've enjoyed the convenience of online shopping, you may not want to step foot in a traditional store ever again!
