Shades Of Denim – How to Choose the Perfect Colour

So many of us wear denim on a regular basis that most find it second nature to select their usual colour. From jackets to jeggings and skirts to jeans we wear denim more than we realise.

Denim has been worn for well over a century, and it's never particularly been out of fashion. In our view that makes it the perfect candidate for wardrobe investment.

In can seem, so simple to purchase your usual colour, and whilst blue denim will always be the classic choice, there are so many styles and shades to choose from that sticking to just one would be a crime against fashion. So this is our guide to different colour of denim.

Bleached

Bleached denim is a very pale blue shade that often has a patchy appearance. Much like bleached fabric. This stripped out look is very popular in fashion circles and a good pair can look fantastic and last!

Customised/ distressed

You know those old jeans that are faded and worn out? As we all know, they look brilliant and are seriously comfortable. The trouble is it takes an age to get your jeans to this point. That's where distressed denim comes in, ripped styles with frayed edges that are in fact brand new.

Stonewash

This classic denim colour has been around for ages and is most likely here to stay! Stonewash is a light to mid denim that's great for everyday wear.

Vintage

A slightly less worn-in version of distressed denim, this style features slight fading to give the impression of age without the trashed look.

Acid wash

This is not dissimilar to bleached denim, however it does give a slightly more patched appearance. Acid wash is darker denim with light, faded patches.

White denim

White denim is a great, feminine look for summer. White jeans come in variety of styles and look great with sandals and summery tops.

Indigo

This dark blue dye is perfect for smarter occasions. Indigo colour jeans are slightly more formal than many others as they feature a more uniform, darker colour.

Coloured

With everything 80s back in fashion, coloured jeans have also made a comeback and you'll find many intensely dyed denim in bold colours like red and blue.

Black denim

Black is the ideal colour for a night out, and just because you're wearing jeans doesn't make black any less appealing as a gorgeous look! Rockers and biker chicks alike have long revered black denim but recently black jeans have made a more universal foray into fashion.

Bejewelled, studded and sequined jeans are the perfect answer to feeling that bit under dressed. Just add glitter or serious studs for a gorgeous look that's perfect for any night out!
