Buddhist Teaching - Great Way for Self Improvement

Posted: Jan 20, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

The oral transmission (or spoken teachings) in Tibetan Buddhism links the listener to the speaker who, in turn, had heard it from another speaker and thus establish a succession of listeners going back to the original speaker: the Buddha. The Buddha is one who is liberated (from the obstructions of common life), enlightened (to help all other being to attain Buddhahood) and awakened (to the supreme bliss).

Buddhahood is a state free of the obstructions to liberation and to omniscience. In Buddhahood, one is freed from all mental obscurations, and attains a state of continuous bliss mixed with a simultaneous cognition of emptiness, the true nature of reality. In this state, all limitations on one's ability to help other living beings are removed.

There can be countless beings who may have attained Buddhahood. Buddhas spontaneously, naturally and

continuously perform activities to benefit all conscious beings. However it is believed that a conscious being's karma limit the ability of the Buddhas to help them. So, although Buddhas possess no limitation from their side on their ability to help others, conscious beings continue to experience suffering as a result of the limitations of their own former negative actions.

Tibetan Buddhism is the body of Buddhist religious doctrine and institutions that are practised in Tibet and other regions of the Himalaya. Apart from Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan (where it is the state religion), Mongolia, Northern China and parts of Russia, this doctrine of Buddhism is practised in Arunachal Pradesh, Ladhakh, Dharmashala, Lahul, Spiti, Sikkim and Darjeeling hills of India.

Though divided into a number of doctrines and schools of practices in Buddhism, the basic tenets are the same everywhere. A Tibetan Buddhist monk (most possibly from the Gelugpa school) will discuss the tenets of this philosophy to help the listeners move forward on the path of self realisation. The monk will be assisted by a translator (a practitioner of the same school) and a number of lower monks will facilitate the process of meditation (as and when necessary).
