Feeding your Spirit By Siri Datta

So, how are we doing? If you have been following the Wake Up And Roar monthly articles, you will know that we have embarked on, or are contemplating a Raw Food Lifestyle. So far we have been working hard on shrinking and sculpting our bodies, delighting our taste buds with delicious and vital raw foods, cleansing our blood, detoxing our liver and invigorating our lungs and cells with an abundance of prana and oxygen thanks to yoga and meditation.

We are now to look at our thinking and belief structures. We may discover to our surprise some shocking mental attitudes that needed updating, we may re-discover our values and make some fantastic empowering decisions. I believe we may well change our whole way of thinking around to serve us and re-programme a whole new set of positive life-affirming beliefs and viewpoints on life.

But that’s not the entire picture, inside I know feel we are incredibly inspired, passionate and more than ready to finally, once and for all step into our most idealised version of ourselves. If we were a car, we would be sitting at the starting line of a Grand Prix race, engine running, crowd cheering, energy building to almost a hysterical pitch….but where is the driver?

Hey, we are almost ready to go…But we need the driver! Come on driver, where are you?

Who is this driver that I speak of?

Draw closer, listen up… I would like to introduce you to a HUGE part of yourself, we may intellectually know of this aspect, but have you actually discovered it? Have you had the pleasure, of having a face to face conversation?

This is the big one. This is the source of your entire life. Without this part, there would be no life. This is the aspect of us so sadly overlooked, so painfully ignored and maybe even, I suspect, disregarded all together. But not here!!!

Here, is where we are going to begin Feeding your Spirit.

During this article, we shall walk you through the subtle process of gently peeling back the layers of all the internal dramas, dialogues and dilemma’s of your lives. We are going to really slow down in this chapter, and begin to communicate with the host within our hearts. There has been, and continues to be a huge body of scientific, medical and spiritual work, that proves that there is a vast intelligent consciousness within our hearts. There is an inner voice, so vastly different from the ranting tyrant in our heads. This voice within the heart is soft, gentle, loving, healing and kind. It is also here, in this part of the book that we shall PROVE that we all have this gentle voice, and the work that we are going to do here is going to be very different and much more deeper and insightful.

All we ask of you, is that you have an open mind. What we are meaning here is, do not even “think” the answers or responses, instead “feel” in the area behind your breastbone in the centre of your chest for the answers.

It is in this article, that we are going to have a little chat with your Soul, discover its mission and message for your lifetime. And I promise you, its not scary, but for many, it will be a most humbling moment of profound insight and quite possibly could be tremendously emotional, sincerely touching and deeply healing. Once you have remembered how to do this, I am quite certain you will come to place time and time again for answers and guidance. So lets begin:

There comes a time in most people’s lives, when we dare to ask ourselves these very important questions. It is paramount for each of us to figure out what we want our lives to be about, to sincerely decide what our values, beliefs, actions and efforts will be going towards. With that in mind, we need to lay the groundwork for discovering our own passions, interests and values.

This can only be discovered by asking probing and profound questions, which help us determine what truly matters most to us. Take out your journal, and go and find a quiet place to sit where you won’t be distracted, by anyone or anything. As you ask yourselves these soulful questions, close your eyes, and feel the answer unravel from within your heart. Please trust the answers, images or words that first begin to formulate. It does not matter if at this stage, you find that it doesn’t make any sense. This process of introspection is also a muscle that has probably not been used too often. It requires practise and attention for this element of ourselves to develop and expand.

Just write the first thing that come into your head, I mean heart!!

* What is my life’s purpose?
* What do I want to do with the rest of my life?
* What do I want out of my adult relationships?
* What makes me happy?
* What holds me back in life?
* What blocks my heart?

Only by taking the time and making the effort to seek awareness of our true self can we begin to shift and evolve those areas that do not serve us. No one will ever read these responses; just let the truth of what you are feeling to pour onto the pages. Even if you experience a torrent of negative self-concepts, by writing them down, you will get to realise, what it is that is getting in the way of your fulfilment, and in the way of love, happiness or wealth.

The Power of Probing Questions

This next series of questions are designed to go even further into your sense of self. Please don’t shy away or put your journal away just yet. Take a deep breath, and like the most fascinating human experiment, which is confined within the privacy of your own laboratory, lets delve a little deeper into your own concept of yourself.

* What are your strongest traits, things that you are most proud of?
* What are your biggest weaknesses or challenges?
* What are the three greatest contributions to your happiness?
* What are the three greatest contributions to establishing balance in your life?
* What are the three greatest contributions to creating wealth in your life?
* What are the three biggest roadblocks to your daily happiness?
* What are the three biggest roadblocks to establishing balance in your life?
* What are the three biggest roadblocks to creating wealth in your life?
* What did you learn from your mother that contributes positively to the above?
* What did you learn from your mother that creates a roadblock to the above?
* What did you learn from your father that contributes positively to the above?
* What did you learn from your father that creates a roadblock to the above?
* How does your present family contribute?
* How does your present family hold you back?

Notice how these questions are outwardly directed focussed on the influence of others. These starter questions will in turn lead to more inwardly directed, deeper questions later on in this chapter.
Planning for your Dream Life

How do we do that? To create our dream life, we must stimulate the process of reacquiring our forgotten dreams. We do this again, by asking questions that mysteriously reveal the innocence of our childlike hearts, before our minds became overpowered by the conditions and requirements that have been presented to us in adult life. We can recapture our sense of wonder and playfulness by asking these delightful questions that bring a magical freedom to our outlook on life. We must never ever loose sense of this childlike freedom, I personally believe this element of ourselves strengthens our health, creates a youthful slant on life and absolutely prolongs and excites our lives. I know as personal experience, that this childlike quality of myself has gifted me with a youthful appearance, deep happiness that reigns even over my darkest days and an eternal optimism even when the stormiest rain clouds are present.

* What did you want to be when you were five years old?
* What dreams did you have?
* What goals were connected to the dreams – if you wanted to be a fireman was it because you wanted to help and protect people?
* If you wanted to be an MP, was it because you felt connected to leading and helping a great deal of people?
* If you wanted to be a writer, was it because you wanted to share your feelings or as way of expression?
* Did you have the need to be heard that drove you to work hard on your school newspaper as a reporter only then to have that dream fade?

Many reasons exist as to why we disconnect from our childlike enthusiasm, ranging from the aging process, to our hardships, to the dream stealers, and so on.

But right here, all that stops…. We must not stop, self-edit or quit on ourselves. There are certain exercises that can bring these dreams back to life with added intensity. They are not to be read and viewed at arms length, but rather experienced in practise. They will cause you to have feelings and thoughts that you probably never knew existed, but this will only happen if you actually do the exercises.

Notice the level of energy as you answer these questions. Some will drain you, while others will release huge amounts of energy. The key is to allow it all to happen.
The Love Letter

This next exercise is the most moving and sincere piece of writing you may ever produce. Keep it safe, keep it hidden and one day when the time is right you will discover it again, and it will take you to this place right here, right now. If you can, remember to open and read it again on your 80th birthday.

Imagine you are 80 years old; you are approaching the end of your life, yet you feel peace. There is no fear here, just immense wisdom and serenity. Just close your eyes and feel this moment.

From this place write a letter from you at age 80, to the you at your current age now. Begin with:

Dear…………………

From where I am now as an 80 year old man/woman I wish to tell you some very important things

* What would you tell yourself?
* What interests would you urge yourself to pursue?
* What dreams would you encourage?
* What can you see and understand now at 80, that perhaps you cannot see now at your current age?
* What do you go on to become?
* How can you boost your health?
* How can you strengthen your relationships?
* How can you find peace and happiness?

Let these words flow out onto the page. Just keep going until you are done.

Believe me when I say that, these words are to be treasured and kept safe.

These words come from your Soul.
I call it Feeding your Soul.

We have a soul fed by certain things unique to you, things that revive your authentic self, it could be a walk in nature, a meditation at church, getting a massage, hearing beautiful music, observing a breathtaking performance, there are many things. We must feed the part of us that is intrinsically “the giver”. We must give to this part of ourselves, as it is this very part, which loves, is passionate, is creative and inspiring. It’s this part that radiates and touches others; it’s this part that heals with a glance or a loving word. It is this scared essence of all human beings, which stands the chance of bringing support and balance to the planet. If we are to survive as a race, as a species, then I believe with my entire heart, that it is this Soulful element that must be restored.

These questions will revive and amplify our relationship to our own Soul, for the greater good of all.
