What Does Transition Coaching Mean?

Change is the only constant thing in life and we cannot agree more. Although it seems preposterous for a few individuals to consider transition coaching to successfully cope with changes in life, upon commencing the benefits from having a life coach quickly become evident. Among these benefits is a healthier, happier and successful life where the individual's potentials can be harnessed to the fullest.

So, what is transition coaching? It focuses on providing relevant support, encouragement and guidance for individuals undergoing shifts or changes in their lives. The life coach then assumes many roles for the individuals under the coaching program, said roles of which include but may not be limited to mentor, motivator and sounding board.

It must be emphasized that transition coaching deals with both physical and psychological changes since both are interrelated and interconnected in virtually all ways. For example, individuals who are thinking of retirement will face physical changes like transfer to a new home which in turn requires psychological transitions. Indeed, anything that affects our bodies will eventually make an impact on the mind – a fact that any qualified life coach will take into account when helping individuals make a successful transition.

The next question is who will benefit from transition coaching?

Everybody! Teenagers, adults and even the elderly who are experiencing or who are set to experience changes, shifts and transitions in their lives will benefit from the services of a life coach. We can mention the following examples of such transitions:

• Shift from being a work-at-home parent to taking on a full-time job or vice versa

• Personal losses including the death of a loved one, divorce and other traumatic 

   Events related to physical separation

• Empty nest syndrome

In all of these changes in your life, you will appreciate the benefits of undergoing transition coaching under the guidance of a life coach. You have a mentor, motivator and adviser who will help in planning for, coping with and overcoming the numerous challenges that come with transitions in life. After all, two heads are better than one especially where your well-being is concerned.

Indeed, transition coaching is necessary for anybody who feels overwhelmed with the possibility of changes in his/her life, be it for physical or psychological reasons. The presence of a life coach can make all the difference in your life so take advantage of the services offered even when transitions seem to be far off in the future, that can be one of the most important times to engage with a life coach. Preparation for change can be a key factor in how successful your transition will be.
