Disappearing Espresso Machines

Two major brands of espresso machines are no longer available as they have been discontinued by the manufacturer. Both the Bosch Benvenuto B20 and Bosch B30 Digital have been discontinued from the Bosch product line. These super-automatic espresso machines from Switzerland gave you the convenience of grinding, dosing, tamping and brewing all with the touch of a button making them very easy to operate, and at a lower price without being a lower quality product. One of its greatest features was a top-loading bypass doser that allows you to easily add pre-ground coffee and brew decaffeinated or flavored espresso. This ability allowed you to serve all your guests the specific kind of drink they wanted. The B30 offered the same simple touch screen controls plus customizable language, water hardness, timer, 12 possible drink options and temperature options. Its greatest points were its programmable settings for water quality, time and temperature, its stainless steel boiler and conical grinder. The one thing that was dislike about these machines is that it did not take on a professional-grade manual espresso makers' freedom. That is, this espresso maker made espresso its way without any regard for any changes the operator would want to make with a manual machine.

Another super espresso machine line that has been discontinued is the Solis brand that is also Swiss-based. There super automatic espresso machines included a great push-button espresso machine with an integrated burr grinder, dosing bypass, and programming. The Palazzo espresso machine was also a modern architecturally designed machine. Its appearance made a statement as to its quality in craftsmanship inside and out. Inside the Palazzo had a professional-grade conical burr grinder, a two quart removable water tank and a pre-infusion brew system, a high steam at 15 bar pressure, a steam knob that allowed you to froth, steam, or get hot water with a twist of a knob. A 5 button control panel set everything to do automatically. Cleaning was done with an alert from the machine and you adding cleaning liquid. A warming tray, a must, kept your cups warm before use. The Solis Master 5000 series offered delivered steaming hot espresso in 15 seconds. The digital, which came last, added improved programming options such as a drink strength setting, a professional-grade burr grinder, added language options, a timer and an automatic cleaning notification.

Why have these machines been discontinued here in the United States? One of the reasons, so I have been told, is that they cannot find the quality craftsmen they depended on before. Another, comment I have heard is that finding the quality metal that goes into these espresso machines is becoming harder to find. Whatever the reason, these quality espresso machines will be missed. Time will tell if these manufacturers change there mind and send them to America.
