The winter blues does not generally happen to someone who is busy all day with things to do in the winter, because they keep active and energetic, as night time approaches, they relax and go to sleep. Stamp collecting has probably been around since there has been postage stamps. Now, since you are new or a beginner to stamp collecting, and this is going to be done as a hobby to help beat the winter blues, I will be talking about the basics and how to enjoy stamp collecting for very little money. The first thing to do, is to think about what types of stamps you want to start collecting. Some of the nicest collections are based on themes or different subjects, for instance if you enjoy fishing, why not collect stamps that feature fish and fishing scenes on them. You can also purchase more expensive stamps online from other collectors, or at trade shows, and you may also wish to join an online stamp company that sells stamps on a monthly approval basis. Another great source for buying whole sets of stamps that cover a theme is the Post Office, for instance you can purchase sets of stamps covering Christmas, Flowers, Birds, and tons of other themes there. You may wish to purchase a couple books on world stamps, ones that have pictures so you can see all of the different stamps available, and the rarity and costs of them. Collecting stamps is a fun and rewarding hobby that can be enjoyed by one person, or the whole family, it's not just fun, it's also a great way to help beat the winter blues.
