The Best Moving and Packing Materials Advice

Think of the difference between boxes of valuable china stacked on top of each other and placed on the moving truck floor.  No matter how well you wrapped it up, the vibration of the the moving vehicle may crack every single piece if you didn't use the right packing materials inside the box.

Now picture a box of dishes where the edges are packed vertically and wrapped in bubble wrap.  You should be fine.

Here are the must-haves in moving and packing materials:

•    Bubble wrap
•    Moving boxes
•    Packing tape
•    Packing paper

Packing Techniques:

•    Pack each room one at a time.
•    Label each box with contents and the room it belongs to.
•    Make sure heavy items go in small boxes.
•    Keep packing tape off finished and painted woods.  Removal will ruin the item.
•    Put fragile items in double boxes.  Never stack them underneath heavy items.
•    Load the things you need last, into the loading truck first.

When you are moving, you'll need to pack for the move and for the time during the move.  These are two different things especially if you have to go a long distance.  However, rather short or long, you'll need to pack up a bag for each member of the household.  Each bag should include a change of clothes, toothbrush, towel, medicine, and any other personal items.

Keep in mind that you will probably want a list of household items available as soon as you arrive to your destination.  This includes eating utensils, flashlights, and tool kits.

With a little bit of planning and the right packing materials, you can make moving into a fun, fresh start rather than a chore.

There's no doubt about moving--it's stressful. The best thing you can do is plan ahead and don't cut corners with your packing material. If you know you're going to move, start packing the things you don't use. For example, if you know that you're not going to use your winter clothes before you move, you'll save a lot of stress by having them packed before the time comes.
