Find Acupuncture Colleges in the United States and Canada. There are many acupuncture colleges from which to choose; and students who are interested in an innovative, yet ancient healing art will find that several acupuncture colleges and Oriental medicine schools will provide comprehensive training in this course of study.
If you’re like most aspiring students, you’ll discover that acupuncture colleges offer various certificate and degree options to candidates who are willing to actively participate and engage in the studies of acupuncture and TCM. While the ultimate goal for students is to attain Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degrees, a number of students enrolled in acupuncture colleges may also elect to take shorter courses geared toward Chinese herbology, Qi gong, Tai Chi or Chinese Medical Massage (Tui Na); however, most of these courses are designed as certificate and/or diploma programs.
As modern society is continually accepting alternative medicine, students enrolled in acupuncture colleges will gain critical skills in natural healthcare through in-depth studies in integrative Western medical sciences and Chinese medicine theory; TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine); Five Element philosophy, and general studies in pathology, physiology, Chinese herbal medicine, and needling techniques (and variable styles, if applicable). Typically, courses in acupuncture colleges vary in curriculum; but, most acupuncture schools provide three to four year programs to complete class and clinical studies.
Once students have successfully graduated from one of several acupuncture colleges, candidates often pursue their certification in acupuncture, as well as licensure. (Each state provides its own regulations and guidelines regarding licensure, so it is important to assess a variety of acupuncture colleges to find the one that meets your state’s individual standards.)
While the field of acupuncture and Oriental medicine is steadily growing, graduates of acupuncture colleges can anticipate lucrative and personally rewarding careers in the field.
If you are interested in finding your dream job, let education within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore career school programs near you.
