This program is taken after the prerequisite curriculum of a bachelor's and master's degree. A typical program to obtain a doctorate is two to three years with total course credits equaling around 65. The DAOM program could include additional training in natural healing, nutrition and counseling that will end in a capstone research project. The student of a rigorous program at this level will dive deeper into Chinese medicine training, and will have the opportunity to develop advanced clinical acupuncture therapy skills.
