Clearing the entrance examination of engineering, and taking admission in one of the reputed colleges of India, is the dream of every student. There are many colleges and courses in India, which provides degrees to students in the field of engineering. But colleges registered under the label of IIT and AIIEEE, are always the dream destination of every engineering student. The students have to prepare very hard to crack these entrances and become the part of one of the reputed engineering institutions of India. Almost all the students aspiring to clear these examinations take coaching classes to increase their chances of clearing the exams. Today, there is entrance examination for every professional course, provided by the colleges of India, due to which the difficulty level of the admission procedures have got raised. Also, with the commencement of online education, many colleges and institutions have also started taking their entrance tests online. CAT was among the firsts and one of the major examinations, which adopted the online testing methodology, which has been quite successful and convenient for the students.

Following the lines of CAT, AIEEE, has also decided to go online from 2011. CBSE, the organising committee for AIEEE, has announced that the entrance examinations for AIEEE from the year 2011 will also be conducted online. The pattern for the test would be same as followed by the CAT. This would make it very easy and quick for the students to check their results, and would no longer have to wait for their results for days. The biggest benefit is that, the result would get displayed on the computer screens of the students, as soon as they finish the entrance test. This would also help in the eradication of human errors to a great extent. The mechanical checking of the answer sheets can lead to some mistakes and errors, which gets totally removed in case of online checking.

Those students, who are not comfortable with the online pattern of examination, can opt for the offline method. This is because, there are two modes of examination, and the student can choose to give the exam according to his convenience. According to the orders passed by Min. of Human Resource Development, maximum of 1 lac students can take the AIEEE online test, which is on the basis of first cum first serve. The students willing to take their AIEEE online can apply online for the same. The application and even the payment procedure for the test can submitted online. Specific dates and time of examination for the online mode are said to be informed individually to the students by the CBSE. The student can change the centre of examination, in case; the seats in one centre for online test have got filled. The pattern for both the modes of examination, i.e., online and offline would be same.

One major drawback of the online test is that the student would have to complete a section in its respective time only. Also, the student cannot go back to a particular section, for revision or editing, after completing it. Therefore, the students have to be very considerate about each and every question they answer, because they do not have the chance for going back to section and do it again. The duration of the exam is three hours, and these are hours, which would decide the future of the student.

Students can keep themselves updated about the AIEEE online and offline schedule and the education pattern, by going on the official website of AIEEE. www.aieee.nic.in is the official website for AIEEE. Confidence, preparation and concentration are the main tools, using which a student can clear the examination and take admission into his dream college
