Career in Industrial Engineering

Students from the science background are always left with the choices of choosing medical or non- medical career options, which in earlier days was confined only to the engineering and medicine profession i.e. doctors. But with the advancements in the technology and people getting aware of the latest technologies and practises being followed in the foreign lands, new career opportunities are banging the doors of the students. Many universities and colleges are adopting many new courses from the west to provide a shift in the business and the industrial developmental scenario of the country. This is a known fact, that the industrial or business development of the country is dependent on the growth in the education sector of the country.

Career in medicine has seen various developments like biotechnology, neurosciences, physiotherapy, genetics, psychology, etc, but no new developments have been seen in the field of engineering. Engineering field has got confined to the areas of mechanical, electrical, chemical, and civil engineering. But to meet the latest standards of the market and make students eligible and compatible to face the hardening practicalities of the outer world, many colleges and universities are coming up with new courses in engineering. One of them is industrial engineering.

Industrial engineering has been introduced as a separate discipline in the engineering colleges. The aim of industrial engineers is to vanish away the things and methodologies, which leads to wastage of time, money, energy and other materialistic things. Their main motive is to increase the productivity of the human mind and its efforts to produce a better result with better technologies and machines. The students in the field of industrial engineering are taught to analyse and study the effects and uses of the different machines and tools, keeping in consideration all the mathematical, physical and social aspects of the product. They are made to work on the betterment o the products, to produce more lucrative results out of them.

The admission criteria for these courses, varies from college to college and most of the institutes check students on the basis of an entrance examination. Even the remunerations paid after studies in industrial engineering are quite high, and after working as engineering for few years, most of the industrial engineers get promoted to managerial positions for future career growth.
