COLLEGES FOR NURSING COURSES IN INDIA

Nursing is one of the most respected professions dominated by the women in India.  It is the field of medical service required for healing. A nurse assists a sick person and performs functions that help the person in healing and recovery. A hospital, nursing home, clinics, orphanages, military services or other healthcare center cannot run properly unless there are professional and experienced nurses, working in them. To train these nurses and to make them aware of all the industry trends and train them accordingly, a large number of colleges and institutes for nursing have got opened in India.

Healthcare is a lucrative career option and many Indian women prefer to become a nurse and make their career in it. It is seen that women from south India are the most skilled nurses and Kerela region produces maximum nurses in the country. In the recent past many private and government hospitals have mushroomed all around the country and because of that there is a huge demand for nurses in the country. The colleges for Nursing in India, are directed at providing quality education to students and making them earn expertise in their field.

Nurses in India, forms the largest group of man power in the health sector. Many nurses after taking education pursue their career abroad. Various institutes give training for becoming nurses. The students applying for education in the nursing courses are required to have medical background in their senior secondary classes and should be a 12th pass to be able to pursue graduation courses in the field of nursing.

In the starting of the career a nurse takes general care of patients. After few years of experience they attain senior post where special skills are required for managing intensive, psychiatric and pediatric patients. A nurse has to take care of the patient from the day they are admitted to the day of their discharging. They are engaged in providing medication, setting up of medical equipments for the doctors, keeping records of patient's progress and so on.

To be a nurse is not an easy task and requires lot of hard work. It is a profession which demands long hours of hospital service. A person is exhausted physically and mentally as the dedication towards every patient is necessary. Therefore, the students applying for the course should be strong enough to deal with these challenges. The internship and the training periods covered by nursing students make them capable of fighting with the future tests. A nurse is at high risk of exposure to diseases, as she has to serve all kinds of patients. Medical colleges nurture and develop them to become mature so that they can handle people's life better.

Various courses that the students can opt for becoming a successful nurse are:

  • BSc Nursing: this is a 3-4 year long course pursued straight after school
  • MSc Nursing: it is followed after BSc.
  • General Nursing and Midwifery: this program produces general first desk nurses and can be pursued after school.
  • Auxiliary Nurse Midwife: it is an 18 month long program where a person is trained to serve the rural population. Anyone can study this course after 10th.
  • Military Nursing: here a nurse has to sign 4-5 years of bond where they will serve the military after their BSc. In this mainly divorced or widowed women are preferred.

Career in nursing can yield good pay packages as well as an opportunity to serve the people and make their society physically fit.
