Ditching Business School Stress

For most students in business school, the primary source of stress comes from the fact that they're also trying to balance a full-time job. So, how do you handle the stress of your job, your family, and business school?

Combine When You Can

Whenever possible combine your actual work projects with assignments for school. Many times you'll need to do surveys or write reports for school. If you can, combine those assignments with your job so that you can save yourself some time.

Work Together

Most of your projects in business school will probably be team projects. Keep in mind that working with other students on these projects is the key to your combined success. A positive attitude while working with others will go a long way in keeping your stress level down in business school.

Remember the Positives

Think about the positives in your situation. Most likely, your company is paying for you to get the degree. Even if they're not, you'll be able to get a higher paying job and change careers if you'd like when you finish. Focus on these positives, and business school will suddenly seem much easier.

Study as a Group

In business school, most of your projects will be completed in groups, so you might as well create study groups as well. Studying together will be very helpful since much of your learning will be about theory or practical ways to implement strategies. The discussion of these groups can prove to be more valuable for studying than any note cards you could create.

Remain Balanced

If you have a family at home and a job and other commitments, giving your time to business school can be difficult and frustrating, particularly when you already have a job. Do your best to stay balanced by remembering that some things are urgent and some things are important, but the important ones should almost always win.

What to Remember

When you're stressed out in business school, remember these tips:

Combine when you can.

Work together.

Remember the positives.

Study as a group.

Remain balanced.
