There are various areas on which students are assessed in MBA Entrance Exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, SNAP etc. These are Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Vocabulary, English Grammar, Synonyms, Antonyms, Reading Comprehensive, Case Study, General Awareness, etc. So it is essential that the candidates should prepare well on all the above aspects. You should prepare on the basis of previous year's papers, this would be an additional advantage if you can solve all those questions very well.
There are mainly four aspects that are covered in MBA Entrance Exams. These are discussed below as follows:
- Quantitative Aptitude: A candidate who seeks admission in MBA is expected to have ability to solve basic arithmetic problems. In this area candidates can get 100% of marks if they are well prepared. In this category several types of questions about Geometry (Lines, angles, Triangles, Spheres, Rectangles, Cube, Cone etc),Ratios and Proportion, Percentages, Quadratic and linear equations, Algebra, Profit & Loss, Averages, Percentages, Partnership, Time-Speed-Distance, Work and time, Number system: HCF, LCM, Geometric Progression, Arithmetic progression, Arithmetic mean, Geometric mean, Harmonic mean, Median, Mode, Number Base System, Pipes and Cisterns, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Probability, Permutations & Combinations, etc. If you are well prepared and know about solving these types of problems then do focus on time and you can score good marks in Quantitative Aptitude. Do more and more practice to score good marks in this aspect.
- Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation: Questions in this section can be on several types and vary. Most of the questions in this category require common sense and therefore must be attempted with cool mind. In Data Interpretation questions can be based on text, graphs and tables. Graphs can be Column graphs, Bar Graphs, Line charts, Pie Chart, Graphs
representing Area, Venn diagram, etc.
Logical Reasoning can be divided into Critical reasoning, Visual reasoning, Assumption-Premise-Conclusion, Assertion and reasons, Statements and assumptions, identifying valid inferences, identifying Strong arguments and Weak arguments, Statements and conclusions, Cause and Effect, Identifying Probably true, Probably false, definitely true, definitely false kind of statement, Linear arrangements, Matrix arrangements.
- General English: This test is designed to know basic understanding of English language by the candidates. In this section questions are asked about Reading Comprehensive, Verbal Reasoning, Syllogisms , Contextual usage, Analogies, Antonyms, Fill In the Blanks, Jumbled paragraphs, Sentence Correction, Sentence completion, odd man out, idioms, one word substitution, Different usage of same word etc. Practice of reading comprehensive increases the understanding and thus they can be solved out easily.
- General Awareness: The test of General Awareness is designed to judge the general knowledge and awareness of the candidates. Basic facts about all aspects of General Awareness like Current Affairs, Business, Punch line of companies, Top officials of big companies, Major corporate events, Famous award and prizes, World Records, Books and authors, Science, History, Geography, International organizations, Important quotations, Social issues, Sports, Finance, Automobiles, Entertainment, Politics etc are required by the candidate to score good marks in this section. Regular Newspaper reading keeps you up to date with current affairs and business news.
