Writing a persuasive essay is in a way like preparing to debate with someone. The purpose of a persuasive essay is to make the reader think like you. You are basically trying to win acceptance of your ideas from people who may not necessarily agree with your perception on a certain thing.
Many people opt to write persuasive essays about things that they believe are not right. A persuasive essay is written from an almost argumentive form. If there is no disagreement concerning a subject, there is no point in writing a persuasive essay.
A few interesting topics that many write about are things that deal with controversies within society. The topics of abortion and politics are two great things to write a persuasive article about. Everyone has different ideas when it comes to free agency; there are those that simply cope with the world and the way it is around them. Then, there are those who are boisterous and will do anything to get their voices heard. This boisterous group of individuals are the ones who write the best persuasive essays.
Three steps that you can follow to help you write an incredible persuasive essay are:
1. Captivate the reader with your introduction- The introduction of your essay is what is going to determine if the reader reads on. Your introduction should get hold of the reader and make them want to read more. Ensure that your first sentence demonstrates the good and the bad things behind your particular subject of choice. Then your thesis needs to outline exactly what you feel about the matter.
2. Supporting your thesis- The body of your essay needs to support what you're saying. You need to present facts that tie into your opinion, and specific examples that show why you think the way you do. You obviously can't expect someone to take your side on a subject, if you have nothing to support your claim with.
You can almost think of the body of your paper in terms of the relationship between a lawyer and a judge. The lawyer is trying to convince the judge of their client's innocence and persuade him into their frame of mind. The body of your persuasive essay should do the exact same thing to your readers.
3. Make the reader remember your essay- The conclusion should be a mirror-image to your introduction. You need to repeat the thesis that you mentioned in the beginning of your essay as a means to refresh the reader's mind of the main purpose of the essay. It's a great idea to summarize any points that you covered throughout the paper. The main objective that you are trying to achieve is to have the person share your same frame of mind.
Whether you choose to believe it or not, writing a great persuasive essay can get you anything that you want from life. There is a power that is almost like hypnotherapy that retrains people's minds to think the way you do when you understand how to write a great persuasive essay.
