Picking The College That Suits You The Best

Posted: Nov 15, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

Your senior year of high school is a time for fun and adventure.  Hanging out with your friends, staying out late, going to parties, participating in exciting school activities and much more, are some of the things that most seniors want to do with their remaining time as a teenager in high school.  However, there is an important priority that needs to be addressed once you have reached seniority – where will you further your education at?  Going off to college is not an uncommon step to take, nowadays, once you've finished your high school career.  Picking a school in a location that you can see yourself at for four or more years is a tough decision to make and must be thought out and taken seriously.

There is a lot that goes into deciding where you will continue your schooling and most of it has to do with what kind of personality you have.  If you are not one of those people who like to party all the time and cannot be considered the "social butterfly," you might want to stay away from your typical party schools.  Some universities and colleges are big into sorority and fraternity life and are constantly leading a hectic lifestyle.  This isn't for some people.  Maybe you come from a small town and want to surround yourself with a more personal and intimate setting like you're used to.  You might want to check in smaller campuses that aren't known for their party scene and loud atmosphere.

Of course, choosing a school isn't just about matching your personality.  As much as we hate to admit it, choosing a higher education has a lot to do with how much you can afford to spend and how much that school is willing to give you.  Receiving a scholarship can help out drastically, and taking out loans will relieve you of some of the stress of paying money back for a while.  Continuing your education is not cheap so you must look into what every school has to offer and narrow your choices down as best you can.

College life is an exciting experience that most young adults cannot wait to throw themselves into.  However, college isn't for everyone.  Make sure when you start your hunt for the perfect school, to take everything into consideration and pick a college that best suits you and can give you what you want.  Even if you aren't thrilled about this new, intense transition, embrace everything college has to offer, because it will be one of the best experiences of your life.

College life is amazing. College life is horrible. College is life! If someone were to ask me, a twenty-three year old, third year senior who has made some of the worst decisions as a student for six years, to describe college in one word; I would simply tell this person that college is real life! It continuously puts you to the test, just as life does, every single day. This is not intended to censor you from the truth. The real truth is that college life sucks!
