SNAP 2010 and ATMA 2011 are the big exams of this week. Both the exams will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2010. Now that it is three days to the test, it is time for you to wrap up your main preparation and go for the last minute touch ups. In this article, MBAUniverse.com shares with you the critical tips for last leg preparation and the test taking strategy for the D-day of both the exams, SNAP and ATMA: 1. Look at the sections carefully: By now, you must know the sections and have got enough preparation on them. In this stage, you should go into the details and find out which are the topics which are given more stress on. As far as SNAP is concerned, in 2009, the Analytical Reasoning section had given least number of questions but maximum weightage. The General Awareness section was the testing area as the questions required details on facts. The section of Quantitative & Data Interpretation & Sufficiency had majorly questions on the topics of Arithmetic, Numbers, and Visual Reasoning. There were very less questions on Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency. The General English section had question on Vocabulary, Grammar and Composition and there was only one Reading Comprehension passage. As far as ATMA is concerned, under the Quantitative skills, the Arithmetic section has questions on topics like Time & Work, Time & Distance, Clocks, Numbers, Progressions, Geometry, Mensuration, Quadratic Equations, Equations, Ratio & Proportion, Averages, Percentages, Simple & Compound Interest and Missing numbers. Higher Math has Permutation & Combination and Progression. The Verbal Skills have RC passages and questions on grammar. The Analytical & Reasoning Skills have questions on the topics of Deductions, Linear Arrangements, Circular Arrangements, Data Sufficiency, Input-Output, Distribution, Inferences, Cause-Effect and Decision Making, Assumptions and Arguments. 2. Brush up your strong areas: Among the important areas on which the questions appear in SNAP and ATMA, you must have some strong areas and some weak ones. At this stage, experts suggest that you should leave the preparation for weak areas and only focus on the strong areas to make them stronger. You can do that by taking sectional tests and more practice. 3. Don't take full length mock tests now: By now you must have taken many mock tests got habituated to the simulated situation. In the last week, few days before the test, do not take full length mock tests. However, you can take practice questions and take sectional mock tests to strengthen your strong areas but do not take full length mock tests as it is quite stressful and before the test you need to relax. 4. Keep yourself aware of the current affairs: If you are taking SNAP then this point is very important for you. As mentioned before, General Awareness is an important section of the test and the questions need you to emphasize on the current affairs, dates, facts and figures. Hence you should spend much time on this section. 5. Revise the basics: According to the experts, in order to crack the questions, you need to have basic knowledge on the testing areas. So now you should revise on the basics. Keep one hour before sleeping to revise the basics. 6. Analyze your mock tests: Analyze Mock tests on SNAP and ATMA which you have already taken. Try to solve the questions which you did not attempt or got wrong. You can also try and solve the questions which you have got right in a faster way. 7. Plan your time management: SNAP is a two hour test whereas the duration of ATMA is three hours. SNAP has four sections and ATMA has three. The number of questions in ATMA and SNAP are 170 and 150 respectively. Hence you should plan accordingly how much time you need to keep for each section including the buffer time which you need to keep at the end in order to revise the paper. 8. Keep 15 minutes buffer time: Attempt to finish the paper 15 minutes in advance. Then only you will be ale to attempt all questions you may know. Have that last 15 minute buffer in the end to boost your score. Always remember that a revision will help you in finding out the minor errors and rectifying them. 9. Avoid negative marking by choosing the right questions: Both SNAP and ATMA have negative marking of ¼ and 1/3 marks respectively. Hence you have to ensure that you attempt the right questions. If after starting a question you find that you cannot move forward with it, then leave it immediately and attempt the next possible question. 10. Be confident with your preparation and performance: If you are confident about your preparation then there is no need to fret at this moment. On the test day, maintain a calm and confident mood and start the paper in a positive state of my. Remember the points and strategies which have been advised to you and keep applying that.
