In addition to over 500 hours of anatomy, students learn about biochemistry, physiopathology, microbiology, public health, diagnosis, diagnostic imaging, clinical laboratory, chiropractic philosophy and technique, ancillary therapeutic procedures, and additional clinical training, among other associated studies.

While the full-time Doctoral Program may be completed in as little as three years and four months, students gain an equivalent of five academic years of training. For those requiring more time to complete the program, students can do so under the guidance of the Dean of Chiropractic. With that in mind, students may take up to seven years in the program and can still be, upon meeting all educational requirements, awarded the Doctor of Chiropractic degree (D.C.).

In addition to its all-inclusive Doctor of Chiropractic program, what sets NYCC's program apart from others is that the college works with area hospitals to provide students with genuine experience. "Students have the opportunity to participate in hospital rotation performing clinical work," explains Lynch. "These clinical opportunities are more real world in treating the indigent population, veterans, athletes, and some people with terminal illnesses. NYCC offers a very nurturing environment."

Lynch attributes the school's fine academic reputation and student performance on National Board exams to its hands-on approach. "At NYCC, the graduation rate is 92 percent. Students are pretty much assured that if they put the effort forth, they will get licensed."
