Join the workforce. Once you've attained your masters degree you can definitely find a job. Having a master's degree will open many doors for you in the professional world. Research the careers in your field. If you have a master in business administration, you can look for businesses you would like to work with. If you have a master's in teaching, think about what school districts you would like to teach in.
After you've done some research, it's time to check the job boards. Get a newspaper every day and see what new jobs are posted. You may find a few good ads you'd like to answer.
One of the best ways to job search is looking online. There are many features you can utilize to make your job search easier and less time-consuming. One way is by using keyword searches. You can type the name of the position you are looking for and a list of matches will appear. You can sort these matches by date so that you see the freshest job ads first.
Another advantage to online job searching is narrowing your search to specific locations. You can see job opening in certain zip codes, cities or counties that you specify. This will allow you to control your commute. If you don't have a reliable car then it may not be a good idea to apply for a job that has a two hour travel time.
Once you've found the jobs ads you like, start sending out your resume. You should already have a resume ready prior to searching jobs. That way you can email or fax a resume at a moment's notice.
Make sure to read the job ad. If the employer specifies that they don't want to receive your resume as an attachment, then copy and paste your resume in the body of the email.
Now it's interview time. Be prepared for your job interview. Bring another copy of your resume just in case. Always dress professionally. This means wearing a suit and tie for men and a skirt, slacks or dress for a woman.
Be aware of the dress code for an interview. If you are interviewing at a Fortune 500 company, then wear conservative and professional clothing. If you are interviewing for a designer at a small clothing line, skip the suit and wear something that conveys your personal style.
There are other paths you can follow after receiving your masters degree. If you loved the learning environment, you may want to build a career in academia. You can go into a doctorate program. This will allow you teach in a university environment or work in research. Do some research and find the path that's right for you.
