Writing a case study on a certain topic is something which many students find hard to do. This article will help you by providing you with steps on how to go about with writing a case study.
- Decide on what the topic of your case study is going to be. If you have been told to write on a certain topic, research it first. Read books and go on the internet to find information relating to the topic. Try writing on a particular aspect of the topic rather than just writing generally. Being more specific is a better way to write. The best thing to write on is a problem or controversy which you observe while you are doing your research. You could then develop on that idea.
- Once you have decided on the particular problem/aspect you are going to work on, begin investigating the details. Find out more about that aspect as to who is dealing with it. Try making a list of people whom you can interview whom you know will be able to help you out. Find as much information as possible.
- Once you have made your list, begin with your interviews. Tell your interviewees what topic you are working on as this will enable them to help you out in a better way. Ask them their opinion and what they feel about that particular situation. Ask them as to how the situation can be made better or how it can be made to go away. Cover every aspect possible as this will help you in getting a lot of information. Also make sure that you do not ask questions which require a yes or no answer. This will not get you anywhere with your interviews.
- Once you have gathered your information, you need to analyze it. Combine the information which you have gathered from secondary resources-books and the internet with the information you have gotten from your primary resources-your interviews. A combination of both will help you write a well balanced case study.
