You have most likely already heard of Internet phone service otherwise known as VoIP and my be wondering just how it works and what are its benefits, if any. Of course you are used to answering your phone only to be pitched by a phone company that claims to have something better or cheaper, so new phone service plans are a dime a dozen. What is different about this type of phone service is that it really does offer real savings, particularly for long distance callers.
To add to this, some cable service providers are now offering bundled service plans that offer VoIP phone service as part of their total package, for even more added savings. One type of call that is extremely cheap with this new phone service is the international long distance call and depending on where you are calling, rates can start as low as two cents per minute. If you think that that is low then try calling overseas free of charge, which is possible if the person you are calling subscribes to the same Internet phone company.
This is something to think about if you or a loved one is moving overseas for school or work. Another great feature about Internet phone service is that you can take it with you when you travel and get perfect phone service from any Internet connection such as an Internet cafe. If you have a wi-fi Internet phone all you have to do is call from an Internet wi-fi hot spot. If you have ever traveled to other countries then you may already know how unreliable phone service can be in some of these places and directory assistance is worthless if you don't speak the language fluently.
