Today's mobile market is full of different kinds of mobiles. You can get a new mobile for a few dollars or even thousand of dollars. It all depends on the features that you are looking for. If you want all the latest features in your mobile like camera, music player, internet access, good sound quality, big memory, etc., you can go for high-end mobiles but if you are looking for a basic phone that you can use to call or send and receive SMS or play simple games, then you can choose from any of the numerous low-end mobiles available.
Cheap mobile phones normally reminds us of phones with very limited features that normally come in small sizes. Most of the companies now pay a lot of attention to this segment of mobile market as these phones are user-friendly and can be afforded by a lot of people. They help in building the reputation of the company and making the brand a house-hold name. This segment accounts for a big share of manufacturer's revenue as number of phones that sell are quite large. The manufacturers don't have a lot of margin as they look for volume sales. Customers also benefit from this as they get the mobile at a very low cost.
Few of the low-end mobiles available in the market are - Nokia 1200, Nokia 1110i, Motorola Motofone F3, Nokia 1112, Nokia 6030, Nokia 1600, Nokia 2310, etc. Some of these are the most widely used handsets in the world.
Similarly, there are numerous other options available in the market that don't have a lot of features but have just enough power to come up to expectation of the users. Normally, these type of handsets have good battery back-up. There are limited features in these moblies that include - make and receive calls, SMS, calculator, address book with limited number of entries, alarm, simple games, etc.
Service providers also benefit from these cheap mobile phones. They offer these mobiles for free with their yearly plan. Some service providers also offer some high-end phones with their yearly plan. However, they cover their costs through the money that you pay for making calls. It means if they are offering high-end phones for free or a very low amount, you will have to pay directly or indirectly for it's cost.
So, the next time you want to buy a cheap mobile phone, you know what to look for!
