Faxing Software and Machines - Why Bother To Fax?

We all have access to the pretty cool technologies that our civilization is endowed with these days. So why do we still bother with fax machines in this day and age?

It just seems like you cannot avoid it, no matter how hard you try. Regardless of how tech-savvy businesses and companies are these days, there are some that continue to insist on getting their stuff sent to them by fax.

I'm sure that, no matter what country you are in, you've probably seen an advertisement for car insurance, house insurance and the like. They claim that they "cannot be beaten on price". When you phone them up, eager to inform them that a new company that you found can give you the same insurance at a massively reduced cost compared to what you've just been quoted by your existing company, the response generally given is:

"Can you please fax us that quote please?"

The reasons for this are many, regardless of how irritating it may at first appear. The insurance companies want faxes. The financial industry want faxes. And the solicitors and lawyers want them too! Faxes act as a legal document, arriving in quick time, so no matter how annoying they might be, they don't appear to be leaving anytime soon.

Another benefit in continuing to maintain faxing software and fax machines is as a fall over to the email systems. We've all more than likely experienced the problems of an email failure at some point. When an email system has an outage and emails are not being transmitted or received, it can be easier to send faxes instead.

Especially so, given the sometimes sloppy SLA's of IT support on a budget!

And with many businesses having complicated addresses in their email lines, unless you received a mail from them in the first place, it can be a real pain in the neck sending an email through to them without getting a "Unknown Recipient - Mail Returned " message in return. This is sometimes even when you've phoned them up to find out an email address!

But, a short call to get the fax number can enable you to have your message sent to them with no problem whatsoever.

Even in the age of all our advances in technology, a little bit of thinking clearly shows a few of the explanations of why we continue to keep our fax devices!
