Free Laptops Offered With Mobile Phones Need Thinking About Before Signing on the Dotted Line

If you're already looking for a new mobile phone, you might want to check out some of the things you can get for free when you sign up for a contract. It's normally not a great idea to just 'get something' on a contract purely because you can, but if you've already been thinking about buying a new laptop anyway, grabbing one with your mobile phone contract can make purchasing one easier to manage financially and actually cheaper than purchasing both separately.

So these deals are good offers - providing you come to them with the right mindset and ready to do a bit of shopping around and research into what you want. Don't run straight into a contract just to get a free laptop, and don't move to quickly when deciding on your purchase you might end up with either a laptop or mobile phone that isn't right for you.

When looking for a laptop, you'll want to have a general idea what you are going to use the system for. Asking yourself this question will make it much easier for you to choose a laptop. What's more important to you? Having a system that can handle powerful tasks, or one that's easy to carry around every day? The smallest, least powerful laptops are called netbooks, and the most powerful are normally referred to as laptops. Notebooks are generally inbetween. Here's a quick guide if you're not quite sure which one to go for:

Types of laptop

Netbooks are basically mini laptops, which makes them great for carrying around everywhere you go. They are surprisingly easy to type on and normally come in sizes between 8 and 10 inches, so will fit in nearly all bags. They are ideal for people who just want a machine that can access the internet and basic features, but aren't anywhere near as powerful as larger laptops. They also don't come with any additional features and often don't even have some usual laptop basics like a CD drive.

For most users, a notebook provides a good mix between the quality and power of a full laptop and the size and portability of a netbook. These machines have large screens normally maxing out at around 14 inches. They normally have a good amount of capacity and plenty of USB ports for expansions, but are often still very light and easy to carry around.

At the higher end of the market are normally just referred to as laptops, or 'high end' laptops, powerful machines that can do a wide range of tasks and act as desktop replacements for people that occasionally need to move the machine around. They are normally heavier and less portable than the other types of laptop.

The cheapest netbook deals usually start at around £15 a month, while the most expensive laptop deals generally average at about £50, so there's a massive difference in monthly prices depending on the system you choose.

Finding the Right Deal

Mobile phones with free laptops deals are incredibly popular, so you'll find them in mobile phone shops and big and small electronic stores all the time. It's a good idea to plan out your purchase and take a look at every offer around before committing to a long term contract. Going online and comparing different free laptop offers is probably the best way to do this as you can ensure that comparison sites are taking a neutral approach - something most shops and certainly shops run by network providers don't do!
