You hear a familiar tone, the one that always seems to happen when you are so close to sleep. It grates and beeps and demands you respond, forcing you to fumble on the light, slip out of the covers and sulk to the hall; finally making it to your study, where the fax machine is now resting (you swear it’s somehow mocking you). Beside it, you see a paper that speaks of great deals, used cars and ever-dropping prices. You quickly toss the advertisement away.
You resist the urge to drop your machine in after it.
Unknown faxes are just as tedious as unknown calls; perhaps even more so since there is always a slip of paper that follows and it’s much more difficult to ignore print than ringing.
You may believe there is nothing that can be done with these numbers. After all, how are you to trace what was sent to you? How are you to see who is using your personal machine to spew out advertisements and fliers?
The answer is actually quite simple.
To find out who has your fax number, you merely use theirs. Consider it as a reverse phone search with slightly special circumstances. Each fax comes through a specific line, just as a basic call would. When you have the number, you can then discover who it belongs to. Assuming it is listed, of course. Reverse phone searches only work if the directory has proof of the number. If the subscribers have not made it public, you will not be able to use this search method. You will, instead, need to look to less obvious options, like posting at message boards.
If the number is listed, however, you will be able to use the reverse phone lookup method to track it; just as you would for a typical call.
Use it for quick results and to save yourself the time of having to worry over who has your number. Find your answers and then proceed from there.
