Internet Fax: Bridging the Gap

Posted: Nov 20, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

There is a great technology out there that you may have never heard of that could help your business be more efficient and save money. What is this great technology? Internet fax. A traditional fax machine scans a document then sends the information via telephone lines to another fax machine that then prints out the document. In order to send a fax, both parties must have a fax machine and it must be on at the time. Internet fax removes the need to have a fax machine by sending the document via the internet. Now I know what you're thinking, that sounds a lot like email. Well it is...sort of. If both parties would prefer to receive documents digitally, then e-mail is the way to go. Internet fax bridges the gap between one party that uses a fax machine and one that would prefer not to.

So how does this work, well, here is an example, let's say that someone has requested that you fax a document to them. Using an online fax service, you can send the document with your email and it will come out of the recipients fax machine. They can then send you a document back that they send from their fax machine and it will arrive in your email. Internet fax is nice because it eliminates the need for a fax machine, but you can still send faxes to those that still use one. Obviously not having to purchase a fax machine will save you money, but you will also save money on your electric bill because you won't have to have it plugged in and on all the time. You can receive faxes anytime because they come through your email and your computer does not have to be on to receive and email. You can only print out the faxes that you need a hard copy of and store the rest digitally. This will save you money on paper and ink as well. And who doesn't want to save money!  You also don't need a dedicated phone line just for your fax machine.  Not having a monthly bill for an extra phone line can also save you money.

You should definitely check into using and online fax service to send internet faxes. Most services have a free trial offer, so you really have nothing to lose and only money to gain (in savings) so go ahead, try it out. I bet you'll be glad you did.
